Barotrauma Campaign Ready Subs
4 items
Description
Lore
The Younger Brother of the Ouroboros Superfreighter. This sub was tasked with defending the shipping lanes from the ever increasing threat of pirates and sea monsters. When the Superfreighter was retired, most of these subs were either sold off to wealthy arms dealers, or sent to the frontlines to deal with the terrifying horrors of the deep, never to return. Luckily, through money laundering and illegal back door deals, a contact was able to find you one for only 6000 marks.

You can use this as a starter sub.

Stats
  • Class: Attack
  • Size: 40 x 13 m
  • Cargo Capacity: 36 Crates
  • Ascent / Descent: -18 / 12 km/h
  • Price: 6000
  • Experience: Intermediate

Weapons
  • 4 Coil Guns
  • 2 Rail Guns - Controlled by a single periscope in command room. You can use a lever to toggle between the top and bottom rail gun.
  • 2 Discharge Coils - One in the front, and one in the rear right outside the airlock. Navigation Terminal controls the trigger. There are motion sensors placed near them connected to alert lights that you can see on the Nav terminal. Whenever you see red, activate them.

Utilities
  • 2 Searchlights and Cameras controlled by 1 periscope in command room. Use the button beside it to switch views.
  • This sub has a battery array. Activating it forces the reactor to shut down. Battery array can sustain ship while stationary, but will struggle if you are going fast. Upgrade them to improve performance.
  • This sub also contains fabricator, medical fabricator, and deconstructor.
  • Has 8 slots for diving gear, the drone has 2 additional slots.
  • The reactor has a controller to keep it efficient.
  • The Cargo Bay doors can be locked if you want to detain any escaped prisoners, or suspicious crew members.

Attack Drone
A self sustained manned attack drone with its own reactor and oxygen generator. Its relatively small size makes it able to fit into some of the larger caves out there. Utilizing a mineral scanner, as well as enough firepower, this attack drone can be good for scouting, mining, and hunting.

Features:
  • Size: 9 x 4 m
  • 2 Slots for diving gear.
  • Reactor with a controller to keep it efficient.
  • 2 Chain-guns, top and bottom. It is controlled by a single periscope. Use the button right beside it to switch which weapon you are using. You can also toggle the turret searchlights on/off with another button right underneath.
  • There is a button to toggle whether the drone can receive power from the main submarine. I put this feature in as a "work around" for a bug I will be discussing. By default it is off, so that every electrical system in the drone does not receive power automatically when docked to the main submarine. (No Power=No Degradation over time)

12/15/2021 - The recent update fixed the issue of the bots and drone path-finding, there is no longer any issue with un-docking the drone.

Known ISSUES and BUGS
I'm sure many people already know, this bug has to do with the way points and pathing of AI crew members. I think this bug exists on all subs with drones, even vanilla ones like Remora and Kastrull.
Whenever you undock a drone, it breaks the AI pathfinding. Whenever electrical components inside the drone break(like junction boxes or pumps), the ai will try to fix it and will get stuck on walls and doors. Even after you dock the drone again, this bug still persists.
If you want this bug fixed, I suggest everyone to send the Devs a bug report.

Work Around to the Bug
If you never use the drone, this bug will never affect you.
This only affects AI bots.
If you are using the drone, then make sure you bring at least 1 crew member inside the drone so they can repair stuff. This is so that crew members left in the main sub wont glitch out.
When docking the drone, fix everything yourself, shutoff the reactor, and make sure the drone is not receiving power from the sub.(Simple Check, the lights in the drone are off.)
However, if the drone receives damage to its hull, you will be the one that has to repair it since the AI crew that has been given the order to repair hulls will become stuck.
I'm pretty sure after each round everything gets reset, so even if you use the drone previously, the next round, the way points and pathing of the AI crew will be fine again until the next time you undock the drone....Probably...
