AG3 L4D2 Chess A2 (Public Alpha Release)

Fully functional 4000+ lines of code chess board game complete with my own 3d modeled chess pieces.

Originally this was a just a simple portal 2 project to prove I could do it as a challenge.. Then it got popular..

Well, It was interesting to show the portal 2 community a little of what vscripts can do, but in the end portal 2 vscripts is so limited..

I had thrown the idea around to maybe port it over to l4d2 when the portal 2 version was a stable release. L4D2 has opened so many doors with vscript function access that I figured I'd see what I could make of it.

Some code could be reused, but most of it had to be completely redone to do what I wanted.

Now here it is. The first L4D2 public alpha release. This is in no way finished but I hope you enjoy what is finished. (And yes you can play the game with a friend start to finish but keep in mind there may still be bugs I haven't located yet.)


-Requires 2 players
-The players should move to their side to claim that team's control.
-Look at the board or the game pieces and press your USE key (default E) to select and move them.
-Originally the plan was to have zombies while you play, but chess is so demanding of a game that it was more frustrating that anything so I disabled them. :o

The new color board allows each player to set their own piece color.

From Left to Right:
Red Channel
Green Channel
Blue Channel

Material selection - Switches current game piece material. Some materials do not work well with RGB.

HSL color circle - Allows the player to quickly select a color in the spectrum.
Lumination Bar - Works with the HSL color circle. Dark is Black - Middle is balanced - Bright is White
