Palacio de los López
Palacio de los López is a palace and the official workplace of the President of Paraguay, located in the capital city of the Republic of Paraguay, Asunción. Also, Palacio de los López is the official seat of the national government and one of the treasures of the Asunción’s cultural heritage.

History
Overlooking the Bay of Asunción, the palace was built by order of Carlos Antonio López, to serve as residence for his son, General Francisco Solano López. The architect responsible for the construction of the neoclassical building was Alonso Taylor, a British architect whose work began in 1857.

In 1869, following Paraguay’s defeat in the war against the allied Brazil, Argentina and Uraguay the capital was bombed and the palace damaged. During the seven years that the Allies occupied Asunción, the palace served as the headquarters of the Brazilian forces. Following the withdrawal of the Brazilian army, the building was left in a total state of abandonment.

The Palace was officially restored and inaugurated in 1892. It featured a pristine white colour, which earned it the nickname of the White House of Paraguay. More recently the Palace was restored to its original colours and still houses the Executive Branch of the Paraguayan Government.

This asset was commissioned by Bastet for his city build of San Theodoros, a fictional country located in South America. San Theodoros is a prototypical banana republic coming straight from the universe of world-famous Belgian comic series Tintin.

Pack Contents
  • Palacio de los López
  • Large and small ornamental steps
  • Large and small ornamental balustrades

Details
Geometry
Palace: 102K tris, 96 tris LOD
Steps: 1K tris (large), 610 tris (small)
Balustrades: 132 tris (large), 98 tris (small)

Textures: 2048 x 2048, LOD 128 x 128

All models use the same textures so if you use the Loading Screen mod the textures will be shared by all the elements and this will reduce any load on your machine.

The palace can be found in the 'Monument Level 1’ tab.

The palace back is one floor lower than the front and when plopped will be hidden below the ground level. However, if you landscape the land at the back down the lower level will reveal itself. I recommend using the Terraforming Network to do this more easily.

I've tried to make this asset as beautiful as the real building and therefore the geometry tri count is high and the textures large. All of the texture elements have been created specifically for this asset in order for full control over the final look.

Please try this asset out and if there are any problems let me know in the comments below.

The asset has some problems with its placing; you can't preview where it will point.

@Macwelshman @Silk Boxer Wedgie The roof has different colors due to a restoration process. The gray color belongs to an old metal roof. So thank you for your accuracy on this asset!

How do you place this asset? The model doesn't show up. Just that red circle you see on park assets.

@Silk Boxer Wedgie No, it really is two different colours. I'm just too obsessed with correctly representing reality. I have no idea why they are different, but they are.
