Description
What is East Wind Rearmed?
East Wind Rearmed is a project that aims to re-imagine the factions provided to us by Bohemia Interactive in Arma 3 with a variety of more contemporary assets, chiefly from Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany by Vertexmacht and RHS Escalation by Red Hammer Studios. Taking inspiration from real world, modern day equivalents, while also attempting to stay relatively true to the factions as BIS imagined them, East Wind Rearmed will add new factions complete with vehicles, statics, groups, and a variety of gear items. The objective is bringing the factions back to the 2010s rather than the 2030s, while still working more or less within the setting provided by Bohemia Interactive.


Summary
Inspired by the French Gendarmerie that once upheld the law there, the Horizon Islands National Gendarmerie works to maintain sovereignty and rule of law. While most of the force consists of the lightly armed Gendarmerie Departementale personnel that patrol the archipelago, the Gendarmerie Mobile and the Group d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale stand ready to respond in the event of crisis, equipped with body armor, heavier weaponry, and specialized tactics. The newly formed Garde Nationale brings military tactics and armored vehicles to the table, an answer to the surge of organized crime in the west of the archipelago. The biggest player is a network of thugs and smugglers with political ambitions known as Syndikat, led by the infamous Solomon Maru. Equipped with military-grade imports and able to blend with the civilian populace at a moment's notice, Syndikat proves an able adversary.

Not sure if you're still developing this mod, but the Iltis 4x4 is missing its steering wheel and seats, while the GM equivalent of it (I presume the West German truck 0.5t tmil gl) retains them.

I don't care. I will never, ever change it. GM dependency is not going away. most of these mods I actually use way more GM than RHS, mostly just use RHS for the small arms.

I absolutely love this mod, but having GM as a dependency seems a bit redundant with the whole RHS collection being a dependency .

And that's perfectly fine, to each's own preferences. But yeah, ignoring the redundancy I feel, they do feel overly dressed for something that would seem like a low funded project when they are so reliant on NATO for protection. Like your SWAT-level guys, all dressed in black and basic kits feels awesome and well balance and natural, only thing I would add which I can do personally is some AVON FM12 gasmasks, very classy! So for me, I'll be mixing them with the HIDF in my horror OP.

but yeah I can see why they would seem redundant or overly-equipped compared to the RHS HIDF. like I said, I pretty much pretend like the RHS HIDF do not exist.

I don't use the RHS HIDF because in the arma 3 canon, the Horizon Islands do not have a defense force or military. the national guard are not meant to be an army or a defense force - they are just a small branch of the gendarmerie equipped with french military surplus for combating syndikat or other emergencies.

@Griz, great mod, I like the fleshed out police force. My only complaint boss, is the National guard feels too high class for basically a "Weekend Soldiers" state-based Militia in terms of their gear... what's worse is that it almost feels redundant compared to RHSGREF's Horizon Islands Defence Force. Now one should never stomp another creatively, but I don't know if I'd have a use for the National Guard over RHS's version. Still, I came for the Police forces and that is where it shines!

Yeah tbh i guess there's not much else you can do with and EWR NATO using assets from RHS and Global Mobilization. Maybe make it the same camo scheme as the base game NATO? You could sneak in some European SF units like Germany's GSG9 using stuff from RHSGREF G36s.
