VERSION 2 IS HERE!

I know it’s been well over a year since I last posted, but I finally got around to revisiting this map!

This is a large map consisting of an open plaza, an office skyscraper, a hotel, an extensive underground concourse, a subway station, a bank, a police station, several shops, a first aid station, and a network of underground mechanical areas. This map can be used for RPing, posing, machinma, exploring, and just generally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around.

Changes from Version 1 include:

- The map is now fully noded for AI! NPCs will run around the level, chase you, etc. Enjoy!
- By popular request, the music is now disabled by default. If you liked the music and want it back, there’s a handy set of buttons right at the spawn to turn it on and off (you can’t miss it).
- The constant background ambience has been replaced with more appropriate env_soundscape entities. It should no longer sound like you’re outside in a windy plaza when you’re hanging out in the secret room in the hotel, for example.
- Framerate problems in the plaza have been reduced drastically. I figured out that those mirrors at the back of the skyscraper lobby were basically causing the whole plaza to render twice, so I just got rid of them. Small aesthetic loss, but the plaza now plays much more smoothly. It still chugs a little in spots, but it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be.
- I’ve made numerous tweaks to existing textures and rearranged, added, or outright removed a handful of models. No major aesthetic changes, but a few small touches here and there. Most notably are the addition of some trees to the plaza so it doesn’t feel so barren.
- Fixed a few lighting bugs, particularly in two of the vent rooms where there were some very unsightly black shadows where there shouldn’t have been.
- I went through and cleaned up a LOT of unnecessary files out of the BSP. It was a genuine pain in the ass figuring out which assets I didn’t need, but it was worth it. The download size is less than half of what it used to be! In general, the map now feels a lot less bloated and a lot more streamlined.

Finally, I want to give a big personal thank you to everyone who has subscribed to and enjoyed this map. You’re the reason this updated version even got made. To be honest, I had completely written this map off before I recently stumbled across some compliments from people on various websites and forums who had enjoyed it, and they inspired me to go back and revisit it. Consider it my way of saying thanks. I hope you guys enjoy playing this updated version of Century Plaza!

the big open vastness of areas allows npcs and nextbots to function with ease, they don't get stuck as much.

Excellent map, I didn't have fps optimization issues with a highly modded setup it ran great for me and I was even able to generate my own navmesh using navmesh optimizer, and with the big open spaces and lots of room to navigate and explore means npc battles or nextbot battles or even small minature armored vehicle battles can be had using LVS ai enabler in the central square in the outdoor area.

This maps music, art direction and layout is well thought out, excellent, top tier map.
