053DL型轻型巡洋舰，为平行宇宙中人民海军建造的专门登陆火力支援舰，特点是所有火炮依照中轴线布置，航速极高，吃水极浅，追求更高的对岸火力支援效能以及尽可能降低成本。

542舰为053DL型首舰，命名为“铜陵”舰，隶属于两栖作战第5支队，驻上海。在1958年夏季的解放台湾战役中（平行宇宙），该舰于新竹外海出色执行了对岸火力轰击任务，随着海军陆战队与陆军向纵深扩展，求战心切的542舰逐步靠近浅滩，虽然该型舰吃水极浅，但仍然因为不慎搁浅。入夜遭到KMT军反扑时，该舰以强大火力将敌军击退，赢得了“绝不后退的岸滩桥头堡”美誉。

后该舰经过军事民主决策，采取高平两用火炮高仰角、小药包的形式，以“超级迫击炮”载舰的形式支援地面部队向纵深发展，为战役胜利立下汗马功劳。

Type 053DL is a class of light cruiser specialized in supporting landing operations. Her weaponry is limited and all set in centerline (to maximize the firepower while firing not wasting certain side). She has an amazing speed and very shallow draght to approach the operation vicinity as fast as possible.

CL-542 is the leading ship of the type. Her namesake is Tongling city. She was assigned to Amphibious Landing Division 5 stationed in Shanghai. In the summer of 1958, the Battle of Liberating Taiwan Island was commenced. CL-542 carried out her mission well. Afther ground force pushing farther, CL-542 went too close to shore and ran aground. In the night, KMT force struck back and was shot to pieces by CL-542, giving her name "The beachhead bridgehead that never retreat".

The next day, after the traditional military democracy. Her crew utilized the high firing angle of her dual purpose gun and smaller amount of burst charge making her a ship of "super mortars". CL-542 made great contribution to the triumph of the battle.
