Escourtuér-Rapide

The Escourtuér-Rapide was the backbone of the Pari Surface fleet, economical yet still robust saw it become the most produced ship at the time. Designed by a group of engineers at the “Détachement de Reconnaissance Impérial“ to replaced the variety of outdated models preceding it. Utilising the famed heavy steel, which had recently become available per Pari’s industrialised metalworking industry, led to the ship being dubbed by crews as miniature fortresses.

The Escourtuér-Rapide was used throughout the war and saw wide use across all theatres. From the early sweeping victories in Berli, the quelling of revolts in Mardi and the advance and retreat from Mosco. It was effective in all fronts which though rather unhelpfully meant that there little incentive to come up with replacements until the Escourtuér-Rapide had already become outdated. Designs were drawn up but only a few reached the prototype stage with none becoming mass produced.

Though the armour was state of the art it’s propulsion and lift systems were much to be desired for. Her sails and balloons became the standard practice for enemy crews to hit as if damaged sufficiently left the Escourtuér-Rapide completely immobile, where then they’d simply retreat, with little chance of repair the ship would have to be abandoned. Luckily this meant if not overextended her crew could easily get back to friendly lines.

Overall the Escourtuér-Rapide was a inexpensive yet sturdy design beloved by crews and commanders alike.
