Description
Spiff's Practical Engineered Solutions, a division of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, presents the Deep Reach Space Miner, a vanilla small-grid design without mods or DLC, and contains no rotors or pistons making it a perfect survival-ready solution for large mining projects. Designed as a high-capacity vertical miner with four gatling turrets for defense, the Deep Reach Space Miner extracts ores effortlessly with its 36 optimally-spaced drills, automatically ejecting waste stone, and transports ore in 16 large and 2 medium cargo containers. Power is supplied by 10 large batteries, with 4 hydrogen engines and 3 small reactors for backup power and battery charging, if necessary. This version adds forward and backward hydrogen thrusters to significantly boost acceleration and deceleration, respectively, especially when fully loaded; 2 hydrogen tanks provide hydrogen reserves for the thrusters and 6 O2/H2 generators reduce refill time. These features make the Deep Reach Space Miner a perfect solution for the player who needs to get to an ore deposit, quickly extract a large quantity of ore, and get back home again in a hostile environment.

NO MODS, NO DLC, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTOR BUILDABLE!

NOTES FOR BUILDING WITH A PROJECTOR IN SURVIVAL
(See the last picture for the projector's configuration.)
1. Build a rotor frame on a powered grid; remove the large-grid rotor head and replace with a small-grid rotor head and lock rotation.
2. Stack 5 armor blocks, minimum, vertically atop the small-grid rotor head to provide sufficient clearance for building the miner.
3. Build a small-grid projector on top of the topmost armor block; for consistency, rename the projector to be "DRSM - Projector".
4. Load the blueprint into the projector; click on the setting to retain the blueprint after construction is complete.
5. Build the blueprint.
6. When completed, grind away the small-grid rotor head, armor blocks, and rotor frame, leaving the projector in place for future repairs.

Thanks. I took another look to remind myself again of the details of the design. It has four large ion thrusters for up-thrust so I'm wondering why you're having trouble with "lift". Are you operating in space or on a moon? It doesn't matter, I guess.

I've noticed that sometimes these things don't move correctly when they're fully loaded, even though I've put a zillion gyros in them. Try wiggling the ship (i.e., mouse) a bit when going up; that will sometimes get it out of its "zombie" zone and allow flight to occur normally.

That said, however, I can relatively easily add up to 16 small hydrogen thrusters to the bottom to aid in up thrust, and a few less at the top for aiding in down thrust. What are your thoughts about doing this?

Hey, I just wanted to say I really like this miners design and the capacity, only issue I had was there is very little upwards thrust so as soon as you get a some ores and stone in there it wont go up. I kind of just slapped some hydrogen and Ion thruster's on the bottom where I could and It works for me. If you do another version def add more up thrust. :)
