The Gatwa (SDB Faction Pack 1)

Descripción
In spite of their distance from the galatic core, the Gatwa were one of the first dominions to join in the fight against the Xsotan. Unable to match the sophisticated contributions of coreward peoples, the Gatwa contributed heavily in raw numbers, suffering very high losses accordingly.

With many of their worlds devastated or depopulated, the Gatwa were in a dire state, but by falling back on their long-proven and economical modular ships they were able to restore a reasonable level of governance and trade throughout their territory.

However, their reliance on cheap, outdated ships means the Gatwa remain vulnerable to piracy and other threats, this weakness presents an opportunity to enterprising factions looking for partners - or prey!

This is an early-encounter faction, with a spawn radius of 500-400. Average ship block count is roughly 4k-5k, and stations are roughly 13k each. I'm hoping to make those numbers much more performance-friendly with future packs.

Current pack contents:
- Standard Gunship
- Heavy Gunship
- Auxiliary Torpedo Ship
- Auxiliary Scout-Courier
- Boarding Assault Ship
- Standard Freighter
- Standard Miner
- 10x variations on base Station platform

As this is my first faction pack, please do let me know if you find any bugs or problems!

I don't really have much of a problem with pirates using this pack's ships, just that they are preferred by pirates over other factions. I've also noticed that stations from this set occasionally spawn with no cargo bays, rendering them non-functional.

I wonder why that might be that pirates love these ships? Or if there's some way of excluding them from using these?

It's been ages since I did any work with this pack, so I'm afraid I don't have much useful input here. Been ages since I played the game at all, TBH.

Just like mentioned by CaptPatrick01 below, almost all pirate ships, SWOKS, and so many other factions are using this faction's ships that I am super tired of seeing these ships. Don't have this with any other faction ships. Beware.

How do you build faction ships at their shipyards? I can't find anything online. When I go to one of their faction shipyards the "build ship" button just gives me the normal ship menu with the random vanilla ships.

Pirate factions seem to like using this pack's ships a lot. As awesome as the ships look, they are so squishy as not to be that fun to fight even on the harder difficulties, yet so numerous in tiny outer blocks and framework chunks as to be a pain to salvage with little to gain or chance for loot outside of the largest pirate mothership spawns. Perhaps replacing the frameworks with armor could bump their HP up enough to allow the player to tear more holes into their hulls before they explode. I've only had a ship shatter in a satisfying way once (Which I only noticed because it produced a sizable lag-spike), though I do find the wrecks looking all hollowed out pretty cool, though that also isn't often.

You can probably also just extract the designs from the BP at the file level, only it's been a little while since I played so I forget the exact specifics.

"Posted August 7, 2021

2.0 beta now allows pressing F6 at the menu screen to capture the blueprint of the ship/station shown there.

You can also use that faction's shipyard to build their ships, and any station founders you build from that shipyard will have the option to use their station blueprints on founding. Doesn't work for mines, obviously."

Really is crazy how these bugs are all coming out now instead of when this went up, but at least this will all be sorted out before the next one!
