Optimized Human Ship

Description
"Optimize the space inside the human ship getting rid of every unnecessary partition or partition bit while expanding and merging some rooms for maximal creativity and housing freedom inside the ship. The external ship design is preserved and the background entirely removed. The tier 8 ship consist now of six very large rooms and an expanded command post. New lockers will also be added through tiers, each of them movable at will, just as the fuel hatch, S.A.I.L interface and pilot seat."

As for installing on a pre-existing character, iirc it should be fine until you go to upgrade your ship. That's when the modded ship of the corresponding tier will appear. Uninstalling should likewise be good- until you go to upgrade again. (or set the ship tier with admin commands. Basically, the files added here [or in any custom ship mod, really] are just blueprints telling the game where to place walls & objects in the shipworld. Might also be the background image? It's been a while since I messed with custom ships)

I see a potential issue in the transition from tier 5 to tier 6- the rear doorway gets moved forward ~8 blocks, possibly leaving items unsupported and maybe doing weird things to anything the upper part of the doorway now intersects. I don't know how starbound handles that (mainly because it only happens when you're changing out modded ships on pre-existing characters), but it's prolly not good.

Also, I agree with JoelCrafter43 in that additional hatches should be added. They may be "centralized", but with such long hallways, going from the far end of the top of the ship to the far end of the bottom looks annoying as hek. It may not take long, but that's just because ships are pretty small anyhow.

This was actually a design choice to have as much solid ground as possible without having to use blocks to fill in unwanted holes. You can still cross the whole ship in less than five seconds no matter what because all the openings are "centralized" so personnally I don't see it as a problem.

Also I think you should add more hatches as it looks a little hard to get around the ship at high levels as it is in the photos.

I have a doubt, I'll test that. It normally can't be harmful. Either the ship will update automatically or it will just stay the same unless the SHIPWORLD is re-generated. Take note that it's more dangerous to load a character with a modded ship inside the ship or enter the ship without having the mod anymore. There it should result in a crash and render the character unplayable anymore.

I have the Teir 9 Ships mod. Will this work with it? Is there a 9th Tier planned?
