Rebirth of the Lamb

Description
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and its expansions have added tons of great content over the years, but have you ever wanted to go back to a time when things were... simpler? This mod alters Afterbirth+ and Repentance so that its content matches much more closely the original Binding of Isaac game from 2011, and its expansion Wrath of the Lamb.

What's Changed?
  • Burning Basement, Flooded Caves, Dank Depths, Scarred Womb, Downpour/Dross, The Mines/Ashpit, The Mausoleum/Gehenna, The Corpse and The Void floors are no longer accessible.
  • Magdalene no longer starts with a pill, and Cain and Samson no longer start with trinkets.
  • Item pools are changed to match those in Wrath of the Lamb, removing all items that were introduced in Rebirth and onwards, and reintroducing the Challenge Room item pool.
  • Bloody Lust has been replaced with Lusty Blood, including as a starting item for Samson.
  • Boss Rush, the ??? floor and the Broken Shovel can not be accessed - so only speedrun for its own sake!
  • There is no way to fight Mega Satan.
  • Newer trinkets and tarot cards will not appear (nor will runes or soul stones).
  • The pill pool now only has 9 pills in it instead of 13, only older pill effects can be encountered, and there are no horse pills.
  • Monster Manual now only generates older familiars.
  • Newer coins, hearts, bombs, keys, chests, grab bags and batteries are replaced with older variants.
  • New beggars and machines are replaced with older equivalents.
  • Donation machines and restock machines do not appear.
  • New bosses do not appear; they'll be replaced with a seeded boss that would have appeared on that floor in Wrath of the Lamb.
  • All enemies introduced in 2014 and onwards are replaced with older ones (or outright removed in rare case).
  • No bomb rocks, fool's gold rocks, spiked rocks or the special marked skull in Depths II.
  • Locked Chests wil spawn instead of Uriel and Gabriel in sacrifice rooms.
  • Friendly blue spiders are replaced with blue flies.
  • 'Gold' variants of pickups are gone, except for keys.
  • Planetariums give Treasure Room items - don't deliberately skip Treasure Rooms to raise your chance of getting them!
  • The only 2 types of health are red hearts and soul hearts, unless you play a character which starts with another type, such as Azazel or The Forgotten.
  • All transformations except for Guppy have been removed.

What Hasn't Changed?
  • The Dark Room floor is still accessible, and therefore The Negative is still available too.
  • The Polaroid is still an item, not a trinket.
  • Wiggle Worm is still a trinket, not an item.
  • Larger rooms and non-standard room shapes remain.
  • With the exception of Boss Rush and Mega Satan's room, all newer special room types (Dice Rooms, Vaults etc.) are still in the game.
  • Anything which is a general quality of life feature (e.g. shops being open for free on floor 1, co-op) is unchanged.
  • Eve still starts with the Razor Blade if it's already been unlocked for her.
  • Characters past the first 7 can still be played.
  • The functionality of items has generally not been changed.

Starting Saves

For anyone who wants the experience of playing through the game for the first time with this enabled, I have made available some starting save files, where the only progress is 1 Mom kill + any unlocks which give Wrath of the Lamb content but require you to either play Greed Mode or access stuff the mod gates off (e.g. shops will already be fully upgraded). There are also 'Avoid Dark Room' save files which also has the unlocks which require you to beat The Lamb, if you want to only go to The Chest for an even more authentic experience. Pick the correct game version and save slot number, and be sure to back up the save file you're replacing first!

The saves and a spreadsheet detailing the various replacements can be found in this Google Drive folder[drive.google.com].

- Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!

Ya I'd say that's a fair way to put it. Flash game does lag pretty bad quite a bit so that does certainly give the a mod some spotlight.

@ That Annoying Guide : Totally understandable perspective, but Rebirth has so many inherent advantages besides its new items and enemies. Seeds, suspend saves, 60 fps, controller support, co-op, expanded options menu/HUD, different soundtrack and visual style, and of course the option to run other mods at the same time.

So hopefully this is worth actually playing for a few people at least, even just as an extra challenge. 😉

I'm definitely feeling the 200 views 0 subs on this one. Idea is neat, but I'd just play the actual wrath of the lamb if I wanted that.
