Well made and easy. You could let the player walk on the ground and put a stair.

I portaled into the room and then placed the cube on the button. I feel like I cheated. Was that the intended solution?

Looks good, my only little nitpick is that one can't tell if the floor is deadly. If you cant figure out how to indicate it maybe actually letting the player walk on it and adding some portal surfaces so the player can get back up would be nice.

Hmm getting over the grate up top was a bit difficult - had to use the funnel and then jump out onto the top where the cube was placed?
