[ESS 1] Union Pacific EMD DDA40X [Legacy G2]

Description
EMD DDA40X

LORE:
during the later half of the 20th century, specifically the mid 60's General Motors's Electromotive Division (EMD) dominated the American locomotive market. In 1964, Union pacific, the largest class 1 railroad in the US, began experimenting with a limited number of large frame 8 axle diesel locomotives such as the Alco C855 and the General Electric U50. EMD began making their own large frame locomotives to compete Beginning with the DD35. The DD35 was an 8 axle road unit that had 2 prime movers. The DD is indicative of the D-D wheel arrangement meaning it had 2 wheel trucks with 4 axles each. they were sold to Union Pacific, who began ordering them to replace their old Gas Turbine-Electric locomotives (GTEL) built by the ALCO-GE partnership. The DD35 served it's purpose reliably and outperformed its competition since both the U50 and C855 had major reliability problems. Union Pacific planned on replacing all their GTEL Locomotives with more EMD DD units. EMD developed the DDA40X as a successor to the DD35. the X stood for Experimental, as these locomotives had never before used technology that EMD planned to research for future use. things such as the Dash-2 modular electrical systems that allowed control of each individual axle, track side personnel alerting sirens, and the top speed of 90mph are all examples of experimental features. All units reached over 2 million miles before retirement from revenue service. the DDA40X had a wide cab of near identical shape to the F45, which distinguished it from it's predecessor. With a length of 98ft/30m and two 16 cylinder EMD 645 prime movers, the DDA40X is still the longest diesel locomotive ever created and the most powerful locomotive of all time. It was a testament both to EMD and Union Pacific's might. These locomotives were also released in time to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the first American Transcontinental railroad in 1969. Because of unit 6900's presence at the event in Salt Lake city on may 10th, 1969, the class was nicknamed, "Centennials", in a testament to how far locomotives had come in 100 years. They had excellent performance with relatively good efficiency, but the units were retired due to how costly it was to maintain them. EMD and UP both moved away from large frame powerful locomotives and focused on distributed power instead. All but 1 unit are out of commission, 15 other units were put into museums. The rest were scrapped. UP 6936 remains the last DDA40X commissioned and fully operational as part of the Union Pacific heritage fleet. It is currently in storage and is reported to be operational. Union Pacific likes to occasionally send some of their more iconic locomotives like the Big Boy out for a drive across the country just to showcase their rich history to those willing to see it. Maybe soon the DDA40X will make another journey.

Features:
This Stormworks replica of a DDA40X comes equipped with two 6 cylinder prime movers, 4 wheel bases, and plenty of power. The slave system is compatible with all of TheYotedOne's locomotives going back to Slave System 1.0. It is fully compatible with 1.2, which will be coming soon on a new locomotive. It has locomotive, rolling stock and dynamic brakes. Lots of effort went into detailing the locomotive to look and function as closely as possible to the original DDA40X.

Operation:

(this will not fit in a vanilla workbench, you must either mod your workbench or spawn it in via addon editor)
(I recommend Mega_Island_9_8, thats the north dock, and you can find a tutorial here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4JPLvvo6F0&t=42s)

Startup:
-All breakers must be on
-set both engines to run using the panel next to the breaker box
-go to both access panels, both port and starboard side to start the prime movers.

Operation:
-Once the locomotive is on, use the reverser to decide which direction the locomotive will travel
-use the throttle to accelerate the locomotive. (throttle will lock if the dynamic brakes are turned on)
-dynamic brakes are used for slowing down or maintaining speed down hills, as they do not wear out brake pads IRL. they serve little to no utility in game, but they are cool. In order to apply dynamic brakes, the throttle must be 0, then you can apply the dynamic brakes. you will not be able to throttle up until dynamic brakes are set to 0.
-the slave system is compatible with TheYotedOne's slave systems. the reverser must be neutral in order to turn on the slave system. if the locomotive is facing the opposite direction of the master, set it to "invert direction".
