Immersive Campaign: East Roman Empire Arcadius Augustus Reskin (Standalone)

Anyone who is playing the Vanilla Grand Campaign and wants to feel more immersed in the campaign map playing as the WRE, ERE or as any faction interacting with the Romans.



A: Exactly as described on the tin: Enhances the Faction leader of the Eastern Roman empire by reskinning them to a more historical "Roman" feel by using existing vanilla assets, without going overboard. This only changes the Faction leader, nothing else.

Because I never found any mod that did what I wanted it to do - and be standalone.
I took inspiration from Nicholson's description of Arcadius in that the emperor was "more concerned with appearing to be a pious Christian than he was with political or military matters. Not being a military leader, he began to promote a new type of imperial victory through images, not via the traditional military achievements, but focusing on his piety."
A laurel wreath, or a crown of thorns, you be the judge, however an obvious way for Arcadius to show off his piety to the masses. Further, from Arcadius' surviving Solidus coins, we can see him wearing Lorica Squamata, or scale mail, not untypical of Roman military dress in the Eastern provinces - very different from his brother Honorius. We can also notice him wearing a cloak with a chrysanthemum flower fibulae.

Using the vanilla assets I modelled him as best I could while staying true to the in-game feel. I know there are other mods out there with a fully decked out jeweled Ridge helmet, or giving him Justinian's clothing from the Belisarius DLC, but based on all surviving inscriptions, Arcadius was not a martial nor military emperor. While his brother Honorius was indeed an emperor eager to mingle with the troops and go on campaign, Arcadius spent most of his time building churches and addressing demographical policy within the empire.

Nope - it only changes the textures of ERE's Faction leader - this is meant for Vanilla.
