Immersive Campaign: Pre-Release Promotional West Romans (For Vanilla)

Description
Have you noticed that the West Roman faction's units don't look anything like Creative Assembly's promo material, trailers, in-game unit cards and even cut-scenes for the game? Does that bother you as well? Well look no further, I've got you covered with this skin rollback.

Update I: I found the missing toolbelt for all the Roman Siege engineers and re-added it to the game. Originally all Roman Siege Crews had tool belts on their soldiers (because they're engineers), and you can see this in the intro for the WRE. Just prior to release CA completely removed the asset from the game for whatever reason.

Update II: I found and re-added one of the missing officer models to the game (ingame screenshot added for reference)

Who is the mod for?
Anyone who is playing the Grand Campaign and wants to feel more immersed in the campaign map playing as the WRE, ERE or as any faction interacting with the Romans.

What does this mod do?
Restores the armies of the Western Roman empire to the exact "Roman" feel Creative Assembly showed us in their extensive promotional material pre-release, but then quietly removed just prior to launch. This reskin mod quite literally makes your West Roman armies look exactly like the trailers, cutscenes and promotional material you've seen for the game.

Why was this mod created?
During my campaigns I always felt the Roman armies looked off, and not at all like the promo material CA had published pre-release advertising the Roman factions. Their promotional material for the Romans looked much better than what we actually got in game, it's as if prior to release they deliberately went out of their way to strip details and features off each individual Roman soldier, making the game a duller experience in the meantime. This mod is not meant to be historically accurate, it's meant to be "game should have been as-advertised" accurate.

I searched through dozens of promotional wallpapers, trailers and beta-footage gameplay analysing the units and their uniforms, and restored all of the West Roman Empire's armies to what they looked like in Beta/Alpha build.

Does this mod have any compatibility issues?
Nope - it only reskins the textures of WRE's armies, literally compatible with every mod out there as long as it doesn't change the WRE's armies. Just make sure this specific mod is higher in load order if you are also running either the Attila Unofficial Patch or Athanasios' Attila Ultimate Fixes.

This mod is meant to provide you with the ultimate vanilla experience for the West Roman Faction, as this reskins all troops to what they looked like pre-release, before CA did a 180 and stripped the Romans of most of their "Roman" feel.

Terrific mod. Hope you’re still finding some time for your Immersive series.

How's the ERE update coming along? :)

as far as im aware you didn't touch the legio unit right? if so would a mod that changes them work with this?

@Arbiter Thel: Thank you, I don't know how many modders are still left that are modding for the base game. I won't stop modding a certain game until the vision I have for it has been completed. I also have a ton of mods I made for Shogun 2 that I never published, which make a full traditional campaign completely viable until the endgame.

nice, glad you are still modding this game

@Arbiter Thel: Expect the ERE update to come around late July.
I have moved countries, and my modding tools/equipment is currently in a shipping container.
As soon as I get my stuff back, my mods will continue. The time past since this mod and before my move was actually being spent working on creating unit cards for Attila, for all factions and all units, which is to date the hardest/biggest mod I have ever worked on.

is a eastern roman update coming any time soon? love the rich look of them in the cutscenes, the scale armor and such

I checked the other mod in question, and I can confirm he didn't steal my mod.
He just made his own version. I notice from his screenshots his mod is not 100% pre-lease/cutscene at all, and he made a lot of subjective changes that are nowhere to be seen in any pre release material published by CA. Obviously I would say my mod is of a higher quality than the other, as I put a lot of effort in reviewing each pre-release piece of media. However you can choose whichever you want to use, it's a free market.

he didnt create anything, so the other guys didnt steal, chill out

@carried more animals than Noah how is it stealing when the assets used in this mod were made by CA in first place? he
