Fang Liu's initial career may have been short, but it was influential enough to make her a legend within the Chinese wrestling scene, causing enough of a splash to create further interest in the sport as a whole in the country. Sadly, after only 3 years in the industry, she had retired early in order to focus on raising her recently-born daughter, as well as her gender transition (which, at the time, she had only just announced.)

In the interim period, she worked as a trainer and assistant for Nana Kougami's Shanghai Empress Academy, and became so focused on her transition and current career that the prospect of getting back into the ring seemed impossible.

....that is, until her daughter started *her* in-ring career and took off like she had a rocket strapped to her back. Determined not to let her daughter show her up, the 42-year old Fang Liu decided to give it another go!
