Operating
Engines, Motors, and Generators
To start the engines, turn the engine keys and throttle up, and keep the clutches off. Then go to the other end of the room and use the starters.

For the motors, use the direction lever to control the direction of the motor, turn the key, and then use the throttle to control the speed of the motor.

To charge the batteries, make sure to keep the submarine moving at at least a few knots, or else the engines will overheat. (I would recommend to keep the generator clutch at max and the propeller clutch at ~45%). Select which battery banks to charge in the electric room, with the circuit breakers next to the battery controls.

Diving/Surfacing
To Dive, fill the stern and bow ballast tanks in the control room, and use the depth hold to dive down. (You could also manually control it, but it's much easier with the depth hold). When using the depth hold, the player input to the hydroplanes still works, and has to be reset by pressing space on both the hydroplane controls (or else they will act as trim).

To Surface, turn off the depth hold and empty the ballast tanks.

Negative Tank - if you use up a majority of the fuel and see that the back of the submarine floats too well when you try and submerge, I recommend partially of fully filling this tank to balance it out.

Torpedoes and Guns
Main Guns - The main guns can be controlled from inside the conning tower. It has a 4 shot autoloading magazine, which can be reloaded through the hatch next to the controls for it. (the space with the magazine isn't sealed, that's which there's a hatch there)

Light Autocannon Turret - The turret can be controlled from to spots, with mouse aim on the top of the conning tower and with WASD inside the conning tower.

Torpedoes - The submarine has a total of 9 torpedoes, 8 at the front and 1 at the back. To fire, open the exterior hatch of the torpedo tube and use the fire key. To reload a torpedo into a tube, open the interior hatch, and use the torpedo pusher to move the torpedo into the tube. (Note: The torpedoes are not guided to be realistic for the time period, but do have logic to keep them going straight)

Hydrophone
A hydrophone was the predecessor to sonar, and is used to detect ships/submarines by listening for the sounds they made. The one in the submarine works by rotating the hydrophone and seeing if the level of sound increases to 1. The gain controls the sensitivity but also increases the chance of false contacts.

Crew
This submarine is meant for multiple people to operate. Depending on what you are doing, you need 2 or 3 people to be able to fully use it. If you are on the surface in a battle, you would need someone to steer, and someone to control the guns. Additionally, if you want to use torpedoes and cant steer from the outside, you would need a 3rd person on the periscope.
