COVER AND MOVE [MILSIM, SP]

In 1 collection by Jacktheviper
SMALL UNIT TACTICS (beginner friendly)
5 items
Description
"Simple fire and movement tactics win the fight. This principle cannot be stressed too much. It's the one thing that will break a stalemate in battle.
Whenever an unit is stopped by fire, some part of it must promptly return the fire, while some part initiates movement."

OVERVIEW

In order to counter insurgent activities in the Northwestern Altis region, the AAF is conducting a series of SWEEP and CLEAR operations in the valleys near the town of Oreokastro, indentified as a major hub of insurgency activity.

FIRE AND MANEUVER

-FIRE and MANEUVER is the fastest way to move through a dangerous area while maintaining a high degree of security for friendly forces.

-To be executed at least 2 elements are needed, one element stays in place and provides COVER while the other element MOVES, subsequently the moving element stops and covers the advance of the other element, this process is repeated until all elements have reached their objective.

-This allows 2 or more elements to take advantage of the benefits provided by MUTUALLY SUPPORTING and DISPERSED positions, becoming more effective than if they were acting as one unique element.

-Through DISPERSION friendly forces can reduce the effects of enemy heavy ordnance and avoid getting multiple elements suppressed by enemy fire at the same time.

-Using MUTUALLY SUPPORTING positions an element can defend a friendly by engaging an attacking enemy from a flank, it's specially effective when both elements can attack together and achieve CROSSFIRE.

-CROSSFIRE allows two or more elements to act as complementary forces, enhancing their overall effect on the enemy compared to an attack from a single direction, due to the simple fact that it reduces the enemy ability to take cover and restricts his maneuver space.
