Description
"The patience to ambush... the cunning to deceive."

OVERVIEW

NATO forces are trying to secure the strategic island country of Malden in preparation for the invasion on Altis.

Our platoon has been ordered to defend the flank of our parent Battalion's MAIN FORCE currently stationed near Chapoi in order to maintain its freedom to MANEUVER against a hostile CSAT UNIT in the North Malden region.

THE DEFENSE

-Although the OFFENSE is the decisive form of combat, sometimes a force may need to go on the DEFENSE for periods of time.

-Defensive operations can be used as an economy of force measure to buy time in order to reconstitute a damaged unit or to concentrate combat power in another location.

-Concetrating forces in a simple point defense leaves them vulnerable to being encircled and hit by concentrated enemy fire, a good defensive position needs DEPTH.

-DEPTH and SECURITY can be increased with DISPERSED and MUTUALLY SUPPORTING elements, by establishing OBSERVATION POSTS a force can receive early warning and monitor enemy activities

-One or more KILLZONES may be determined, these are the areas where we will try to fix and destroy enemy forces using obstacles and fires.

-A defending force doesn't have to be passive, fixing the enemy with the use of obstacles and launching a COUNTERATTACK can be decisive for a successful DEFENSE.
