(S) S.S.H Carnifex Defense Platform

The Carnifex Defense Platform is a common sight in Safe Solar Holdings territory. This fairly expensive but heavily armed platform is used to guard the most important bases and mining operations in the system. The by themselves, the platforms are fairly durable, with a thick armored core. They are highly resistant to attacks by medium ships and fighters, but preform poorly against large capital ships. However, it is more effective when backed up by fighters or other ships.

The platform is one of the best solutions piracy in the S.S.H system, used most where another large vessel would not be applicable.

The platform follows a spiderweb design, dividing the offensive capabilities of the station into four batteries. This allows for continued operation after heavy damage.

Armaments:
16 Artillery turrets for large targets.
16 Gatling turrets for fighter screening
20 missile turrets also for large targets, providing superior firepower up close when compared to the Artillery turrets.

The platforms original purpose was as a blockade tool, and dock for several interceptors. It preformed this role during the siege of Endelum, during which hundreds of these stations where used to blockade the world. This blockade was estimated to have cause the deaths of several hundred thousand citizens due to the lack of imports. However, the operation succeeded in its original goal, forcing the Endelan barons to forfeit the planet to S.S.H. This opened new trading routes and allowed for the exploitation of the planets vast natural reserves of oil. All of the platforms used in this operation where repurposed to fulfill their current role.
