Description
The first Black Tiger was portrayed by Mark "Rollerball" Rocco. The gimmick was conceived to oppose Tiger Mask.

In 1982, Black Tiger won the WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship before losing the title to Tiger Mask a few weeks later.

After the original Tiger Mask left NJPW in 1983 and the gimmick was purchased by AJPW, Black Tiger continued on in NJPW without his chief rival. Rocco continued to use the gimmick in NJPW until 1990.
