This is a single player designed taster mission for the DLC AH-94 attack helicopter based on the British Operation Herrick mission in Helmand Province, Southern Afghanistan. (2002-2014)

The mission is a prelude to a full Operation Herrick Campaign which I am currently working on.

The inspiration for this mission and campaign comes from the book "Apache" by Ed Macy who was a British Apache pilot during Operation Herrick.

This mission and the forthcoming campaign will be my most immersive set of missions yet and will generally be based on real life events. I have used real callsigns and scenarios to create a level or realism like never before.

WARNING TO ANYONE WHO DECIDES TO DOWNLOAD.....
This is as close to a simulation of real and complete Apache missions that I can get within the constraints of VTOL VR and my time. I have created a one to one scale map which covers a 196Km x 196Km patch of Helmand and Kandahar provinces in Southern Afghanistan using real world terrain height data. You will need to cover reasonably large areas of ground to get to mission objectives. THIS IS AS FAR AWAY FROM PURE ARCADE ACTION AS I CAN GET, therefore, if you are only interested in that type of mission I suggest you sit this one out. The mission/campaign survivability difficulty will reflect the Apache's overwhelming air superiority but the missions will need to be executed carefully and effectively as the ground troops lives, who you are there to protect, will depend on you prosecuting your attacks quickly and accurately. In addition there will be rules of engagement to follow which if ignored could ruin your day.

Remember this is just a taster mission, the full campaign will be full on and have multiple targets and objectives and you will need to work with other AI units to achieve mission goals..

The map area features the main District Centres of Kajacki, Sangin, Musa Qala, Lashkah Gar and Garmsir along with the main bases of Camp Bastion, Camp Dwyer and Kandahar, all geographically in their correct locations along with complete and detailed custom built forward operating bases.

This mission and the whole campaign will be designed with a single player in mind. Your AI co-pilot will be there to provide you with situational awareness, target viability and generally deal with all comms, leaving you to concentrate on flying and fighting.
