CN C40-8Ws

A livery pack to start off February in some capacity. Here is another group of liveries to finish off the Dash 8s, featuring liveries based off of CN’s versatile fleet of C40-8Ws including the small fleet of “Blue Devils”.

A bit of news, but I won’t be making as much liveries for a while due to school being a pain, so their may not be as much within the next few months, but I’ll try and pump out content every 2 weeks. Anyways, heres the history:

The CN C40-8Ws came into existence first in the late 1990s during a power shortage. CN managed to get ahold of 12 Ex LMSX C40-8Ws for freight service, working alongside the C40-8Ms and other locomotives during that time. For some reason, the units were never repainted into CN colors (3 units getting repainted later on in the 2010s) and wore the Conrail blue livery with the CN logo on the side. Fast forward to the beginning of 2010, when CN began the purchase of former BNSF C40-8Ws having roots back to the Santa Fe. In total, CN acquired 67 units for service, with each one entering in service within 3 years. By the beginning of the 2020s, CN began the process of storing and retiring the Dash 8s in favour of the (cough) GEVOs. While the focus was on the early Cowls, the Wide Cabs weren’t exempt from this, as a handful of units were sold to scrap, with many more to follow. As of 2022, a majority of the Widecabs are sitting in long-term storage with an uncertain future, including the Blue Devils.

In this pack, you get a few samples of the versatile units with different logo positions and sizes, plus a unique one-off with headlights on the front. Also included is all 12 “Blue Devil” units recreated into Rolling Line. I might update this pack to have a few more units, and if I have the motivation to, add some C40-8s and C40-8Ms.
