General information:

Cast Iron was primarily designed as a industrial ship, but later people started to realize that no industrial ship can actually survive the ice sea without proper firepower. So the original design was adjusted and reforged into a deep-diver. As a result, one may find this ship very controversial: On one side, you may find handy technologies here and there; but on the other side, many flaw-full designs may put you into a dangerous situation. One should handle this ship with plenty of care, and also, spend some money on the upgrading.

Periscope controlled drone

Like my previous ships, Cast Iron is also equipped with a drone which can be controlled directly through periscope in the captain's bridge. This drone is fitted with a laser gun whose ammunition box could be reloaded from inside the ship when it is docked. The actual size of this drone is no taller than your leg, therefore you can steer it into most caves for multiple purposes. Here is a brief introduction about how to use this drone:
  • Man the periscope to take drone control (right next to the navigation terminal, access with the button D).
  • Click to undock.
  • Click to move, double click to switch mode.
  • Bring your drone back to the dock hatch to retrieve automatically.
For unknown reasons, the drone is uncontrollable when certain mods are active. If you find yourself unable to steer the drone, please refer to this previous discussion:

The drone have a interior power supply which can be recharged when docked. This battery can keep the drone moving for a few minutes before it runs out, so plan carefully or it may die.

Captain's superior control

You may find your gunner low-efficiency or completely wasting ammo, and you want to set things strait without leaving your command. Therefore you can use your over-riding periscope to take over local fire-control. Simply click on the button and you will be connected to the corresponding position. And by default those positions are:
  • Up-middle Rail-gun.
  • Up-left Coil-gun.
  • Up-right Coil-gun.
  • Down Coil-gun.
  • D for drone.
Also, you may see an auto-door button right next to the navigation terminal. Doors (but not hatches) on Cast Iron are mostly automatically controlled, but in case you don't want peoples (especially guests) to walk around unlimited, you can turn down the auto door. When deactivated, doors will no longer open upon people approaching, and guests have no proper authorities to open them. However, your crews can open them manually.

Build-in state monitor

Inside the captain bridge is a big screen with a rough polygon representing the ship herself. Around it are some basic information you may want to know: Battery level, Reactor state, Fuel remain, Speed on both axis, and Super-capacitor level of each gun.

FLAWS
As mentioned before, Cast Iron have her own flaws.
  • Relatively weak fire-power, four guns is not a very much powerful outfit for a ship of her size.
  • Retarded power grid, power supply is one of the major troubles you may see in early game. You can try to solve that by rewiring some of those wires or adjust the logic of batter recharging control.
  • Poor water-proof ability, there are not many pumps on this ship, so water leaking could be a problem if you refuse to upgrade your pumps.

Anyway, according to my personal tests, I would say this ship is generally not a bad ship at all. And could be very efficient when handled properly. she can be a good entertainment for small teams mixed with bots or for single players. I wish you can also enjoy this ship and make a safe sail.

im having an issue where the subs railgun shells collide nothing near to the sub and it detonates itself

@Soft Head make sure you have at least 2 rods in the reactor and keep in mind that this ship was not supposed to be on full-function constantly. You will have to wait for the battery to charge from time to time.

doge hello i like your sub how can i adjust the power grid im relatively new player and we keep dieing because can't get enough power even with upgrades what can i adjust?
