Yeah, Elden Ring is basically "we did the same thing again for the 6th time: the game" so FROM probably expected people to have a hang of how it works... some of the game design decisions baffle me, like not giving you the spirit-summoning bell if you choose to start with the Fanged Imp Ashes while all other starting gifts can be used right away...
A lot of the stuff you can find have some in-game hint, like buildings being so tall you can see them on the horizon, cave entrances having torches, or catacombs having those "guide to those who return to the roots" statues that point out the path to the entrance if you interact with them. If you just check out anything suspicious you find you'll get alllllllllll the secrets in no time!
This gave me plenty of help having a basic foothold, and your directions to find the hooded lady that seems like a vibe helped me also find those guards that had a map of the area too! (she gave me a horse she's pretty cool guys
I still feel pretty lost but now i'm not *Completely* lost, and I learned quite a few niche tips that have already bailed me out in a tight spot. So thanks! I tried the game once, and put it off for awhile but now i'm gettin' back into it because of this guide!
