Description
This mod adds a unity maintenance cost based on your empire sprawl. Thus this mod indirectly reintroduces administrative capacity.

Every 1 point of empire sprawl over the safe zone(100) will reduce unity gain by 0.5 a month.

So this makes it so there are no penalties for being over, just a deficit of Unity?

Hey Liquid Snake (love the username), I think I prefer having a linear cost growth in relation to empire size. It probably isn't much work to make an exponential one, but would need to be a different mod since the gameplay feeling would be much different. I gave the mod a quick test with 3.4 and looks like the core functionality is still fine. Having a unity deficit may not do anything anymore (but not getting traditions is already pretty bad). They introduced situations for most deficits but not unity! So when I update this mod (which may be awhile) I want to create my own situation for unity deficits.

Hiya Maldives, two Qs. First, how is tweaking and the possible introduction of scaling going? (Maybe you could add in a multiplier based on a fraction of Empire Size - or is that too circular?) Second, any plans for an update to 3.4?. Love the mod!

Quick answer! I was going to edit - I am also running 'Expanded Stellaris Traditions' and I think that might have not been updated for 3.3, might be part of my problem.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I agree. In the early game it matters a little bit, but once rulers get online from all your colonies it doesn't seem to matter. And factions add more unity then I thought. I will try play testing some higher values. (been functionality testing too much and haven't experienced much late game)

My last playthrough I used this. After year 100 or so the unity tax didn't matter and the lack of scaling meant I scooped up traditions way too fast. I like the concept, needs more oopmh.

Slightly disappointed by the changes since I preferred how the original worked, but I made sure to save a backup copy before the change anyway so its all good.

Everyone likes to play differently, so all mod options are good. But thank you!

Looks like you may have done a better job than my mod, mine's pretty jury rigged.
