Prototypical USA Timetable Maps

Description
This map covers the northern end of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor (NEC) between Edison, NJ and the approach to Penn Station in New York City. Although most of the traffic in the morning rush hour is to New York City and Newark, there is still quite a bit of traffic heading away from the city. This simulation is strictly based on the Fall 2019 Amtrak and New Jersey Transit timetables with very small changes made to adapt it to Rail Route.

Background:

Amtrak
Train symbols are prefixed with an "A" and should generally be considered the highest priority, especially the A2000 series Acela Express trains. All trains (with the exception of the ultra express A2401) will stop at Newark Penn and occasionally at Metropark and/or Newark Liberty Airport. The middle tracks are rated for the highest speeds and should be used in order to maintain timeliness.

New Jersey Transit
The bulk of the trains are NJT and their symbols are simply their normal 4 digit train number. Trains will enter and exit via Edison (NEC Line), Graw (North Jersey Coast Line), Hunter (Raritan Valley Line) and Swift (Montclair-Boonton and Morris & Essex Lines). All trains from the Raritan Valley and some from the North Jersey Coast Line will head to Hoboken via Hudson or relay in Hudson Yard to head back west. Most trains stop at Secaucus Junction but some inbound trains will bypass it. Keep an eye on the arrival times to Penn Station to see if any trains will overtake ones stopped at Secaucus Junction.

Don't be afraid to use all the tracks, you will need to. Under normal circumstances tracks 1 and 6 are not used at Newark Liberty Airport. The scenario starts off slow which will give the player time to figure out which auto signals need to be made perpetual.
