Description
Your people started as a group of scientists who barely escaped a retrogressive theocratic regime on their homeworld. Their best and brightest minds designed and built and launched an slower-than-light colony ship, having developed the necessary cryostasis technologies for slower-than-light travel.

Whether through a quirk of space-time or the manipulations of an advanced power, that colony ship was transported far, far away from its origin and into the vicinity of a world habitable by your species.

Since then, your people have rebuilt and have relaunched themselves at the stars. Now, with the power of hyperdrive, they wonder - are their forebearers still out there, somewhere?

This is an origin mod inspired by the novel, "The Stars are Ours!", by Andre Norton.

Starting with this origin confers the following technologies at start:
  • Genetic Healthcare
  • Cryo-Revitalization
  • AI-Controlled Colony Ships
  • Self-Aware Colony Ships

Your species will have to be some form of Materialist to choose this Origin.

Note: I did not mess with the system initializers for this. If you start with this origin as humans, Sol (and Deneb!) may also spawn. This should be congruent lore-wise with the origin, however - whatever state that Sol is in can be explained handily. If they're UNE, things improved, if they're primitives, things backslid. If the Commonwealth spawns, then that just means your scientists weren't the only ones to escape...

Sounds super exciting. Although, it would be even better if there were dedicated questlines and the like, so you could find what became of the people you left behind, whether to conquer them, or risk being conquered.

"to use this origin you need to be a Materialist or Fanatic Materialist" are there people who are foolish enough to not even touch materialism? it is something i always add on to my civs i dont even think twice about it.

this mod is literally my game play 70% of the time i have never once played a theocratic faction the idea is utterly repulsive to me lol but i often have the Earther's as a theocratic AI controlled Xeno-hating (unless they accept earther religion, basically space islam lols) faction

Interesting. I think I will use this Origin in my Alvanian Tecnocracy (Space Gnomes).
