Zizo Transponder Locator

Description
This microprocessor allows for precise transponder position location using triangulation algorithms with the data collected from just your vehicle and displays the result on the monitor map.

The system requires you to move around a bit in order to triangulate the transponder, the more you move, the more it narrows down an exact location.
Due to the imprecision of the transponder frequency itself, and speed of your vehicle, the first few detections are usually quite wrong, keep moving and the triangulation will succeed.

Features:
  • Very simple to use, everything is automated.
  • Little information displayed, very easy to read.
  • Works on any monitor size, optimized for 1x1 monitors.
  • Touchscreen.
  • Map customizable.

Installation:
  • Connect the Physics sensor composite data to the microprocessor.
(physics sensor blue arrow must face forward, red arrow right and green arrow upwards)
  • Connect the video feed from the microprocessor to a monitor.
  • Connect the Transponder pulse from a transponder locator to the microprocessor.
  • Connect the Transponder locator node from the microprocessor to the Transponder locator active node.
  • Connect the Transponder from the microprocessor to the Transponder active.
  • Connect the Touchscreen from the monitor to the microprocessor.
  • Make sure that everything is connected to electricity and that your monitor is turned on.

Usage:
  1. Touchscreen controls:
    Touchscreen button
    Function
    T
Toggles on and off the transponder locator and starts the triangulation process
    C(1/2/3)
Changes the focus mode when avaiable
    +/-
Zooms the map in and out when possible
    M
Changes the map coloration between the two choosen presets
(choose presets in the microprocessor properties)
    B
Activates the emergency transponder of your vehicle so that others can find you
  2. Move around a little in any direction (~1km) so that the triangulation can be calculated properly.
  3. Enjoy the transponder located precisely on the map.

Remastered:
  • The triangulation algorithm is now much more powerful.
  • Map is now fully customizable on 10 presets.
  • Touchscreen with intuitive and minimalistic interface.
  • Displays distance to the active transponder all the time.
  • Manages your own transponder too.

Extra knowledge:
  • When closer to 300 meters this will not work anymore
  • Great speed does break the calculations.
  • The triangulation output is updated at most every 200 meters travelled.
  • To reset the calculations simply toggle "T" off and on again.
  • Does not work properly with multiple transponders active, will detect just the closest one.

Hello Rakai Pring Ombang, I did not. While it could be a nice idea, usually what makes noise underwater also moves so by the time you take a second and third measurement, you cannot compare to the first one to figure out the position.

hey zizo, do you have this triangulation algorithm applied to a passive sonar microcontroller?

Sooo... what if the physics sensor doesn't have a green or red arrow? just two blue arrows?
I am VERY CONFUSED.

I put your transponder on all my ships; thanks Zizo!

I found a really good one that i like. I might just use that instead

Hello @Matt039, if you don't want to use the transponder on your vehicle, it's not necessary for the transponder location function.
Matt039 23 Aug, 2024 @ 4:18pm
do i have to connect it to a transponder even tho i dont want to use a transponder?
TheLostFox 23 Aug, 2024 @ 8:36am
@matt make sure that you connect it to a trasponder and a transponder locator to there correct ports, should work with any creation
Matt039 21 Aug, 2024 @ 10:24pm
i might just try it in a fresh new creation if my own just to make sure that is actually works for me
Matt039 21 Aug, 2024 @ 10:23pm
i am sure i connected all the components and checked twice. it's probably something to do white the creation i am using.
