The Secret Cave Entrance

The river forks into a small natural harbor. Skeletal remains litter the shorelines, evidence of a previously unsuccessful expedition. Strange runic symbols seem to offer an explanation to they mysteries of this secret entrance into the underground caverns. Perhaps some lessons can be learned from the failed attempts of these fallen adventurers.


This is a secret cave entrance with a runic puzzle. I hid all of the components the players need to open the door in or around the props within the level. The placards on the walls must be deciphered, there's also a journal that previously unsuccessful adventurers kept with additional clues as well (check the skeleton on the left). Or, feel free to make up whatever methods you feel are appropriate for opening the door.

Here's the gist

The basin needs to be filled with a specific amount of blood, which should be shared among the party (I had them sacrifice hp, which they couldn't regain until the next long rest).

A magic item is added, and magic words are spoken.

There's a journal in the backpack near the skeleton with a few of the words already de-coded.
