Ranger MK II Patrol Craft

After the colonies had won their independence in 2125, Mars and Jupiter quickly began agressive expansion into the resource rich asteroid belt. This expansion often ran them into territory disputes with one another and with the already established Terran mining efforts there.

Mars Colonial government knew that in order to keep their claims, they would need a new class of patrol craft capable of medium range operations to replace the independence war era Broadsword strike craft. The Ranger Mk II was borne of these efforts and met their expectations in manoeuvrability, size and weapon capability. Designed by L3 Engineering, the Ranger Mk II features two front mounted missile launchers connected to an internal munitions distribution system. Wing hardpoints allow for additional weapon pods to be added to increase the operational effectiveness of the Ranger Mk II and adapt it to role specific operations. Due to it's front mounted position, the Ranger's standard weapon system is capable of limited strafing manoeuvres whilst in combat.
