Description
Welcome to Whitestone Cove!

Delve into the wilds of the great Pacific Northwest! Carve out your niche within deep pine forests and along rugged coastlines. Whitestone Cove offers a variety of options for building your city. Build across the river and up the more sloped and rugged terrain, or expand into the flatlands south of the mountains. The cove at the base of the mountain is a valuable resource that could very well be made into hub for shipping and trade. Which direction will you choose?

Many thanks to ACanadianMoose[www.twitch.tv] for putting in a request for a Pacific Northwest map while streaming on Twitch. It had always been a goal of mine to do a map inspired by this area, and this was the perfect opportunity! Moose will be starting a new city using this map coinciding with its release to the workshop. Check out his stream[www.twitch.tv] if you want to see Whitestone Cove in all it's glory!

Details
- All resources should be available and accessible within the base 25 tile area. Oil = snow in this map, so anywhere you see snow, it's actually oil.
- Approx. 248,000 trees. (Yes
- The highways have been customized with the MoveIt!, Network Multitool, and Node Controller mods. Traffic should flow fine, but let me know if there are issues.
- All network connections are available.

Optional Requirements
If you want snow and in order to get the map looking the same as the screenshots you see here, there are some visual mods that are required. These aren't necessary to run the map, only for making it look prettier. The mods can all be found in the Whitestone Cove One-Click Collection. If you get the visual mods, be sure to check the screenshot for the necessary Render It! mod settings.

Feedback
If ever you find anything wrong with the map or if I've missed a required asset or something please let me know. I can't promise a fast response, but I'll try to take care of any legitimate problems as quickly as I can.

Thank you!
You all are AWESOME and are the reason the Cities community is so incredible! Keep being the cool people you are, and I'll see you around for the next one!

@Scotland Tom sorry for spamming the comments, but I've found out something. When I start another map, and set some theme mix up, then I quit the game. Then when I start up Whitestone Cove again, the theme is off, but it's not that dark. When I then select the theme mix for the map, it all turns dark. Could you share a list of what themes are used for what soil type? Then I could try setting it up manually to see if that works or what part of the theme mix might be causing the map going dark on me.

@Scotland Tom thanks for the quick response! I will unsub and resub to the one-click collection to perhaps reset the whole thing. I take it you don't know of any other graphics mods that might cause issues like this?
Scotland Tom  [author] 14 Jul, 2022 @ 11:07am
@jn987 - Only two things I can think of that'll cause things to look particularly dark. 1) The sunlight/exposure in the atmospheric settings of the theme mix isn't set right. 2) Something in the Render It settings isn't set right. Based on what you've said I would guess it has to do with the theme mix. Either it didn't load properly, it's missing something, or the settings got messed up in some other way.

So make extra super mega sure that you've got all the themes for the theme mix and that Theme Mixer is loading it correctly. Beyond that, and playing around with Render It settings, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Sorry you've had issues getting it to work right. I hope you can get it figured out!

Somehow I can't get this to work right.. Whole map is really dark, while I subbed tot the one click collection, have copied all Render It settings and selected the Whitestone Cove theme mix. Is there something I could be doing wrong?

@Scotland Tom - Thank you for the quick reply that did the trick! beautiful map, reminds me of the area I grew up in. Thanks again.

@SleepyShepherd - Make sure to check Theme Mixer when you open the map and choose the Whitestone Cove theme mix in the options panel. That theme mix includes a snowy texture for the oil resources. The texture I used was this one by Mr Miyagi.

I subbed to everything in the collection and whenever I load the map to start a new game there is no snow on the mountains. Is there something I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, cool. Thank you.

@Conceptronix - That's my fault. I had all the themes listed correctly on the theme mix workshop page, but was missing one of them from the one-click collection. The missing theme was this one: Snowfall Theme by MrMiyagi The one-click collection has been updated. Sorry for the error!

Not the right theme mix it seems. I don't get same results and theme mixer is complaining about missing stuff. I subbed to all.
