Radiant Additional Helpful Buildings

Description

This mod adds 2 additional buildings on a realistic take for a game with a little more great work slots (reasonably) and governor titles. Also edits governement plaza, amphitheater, palace and library in the process. This mod is an improved, more balanced and simplified version of an old mod of mine compatible with the game's last version and expansions. The icons are handmade and game friendly, but still there is no 3D model of those buildings.

  • Palace Change - Add 4 Specific Great Work Slots : Art, Artefact, Music, Writing. Can feel strong at first glance, but remember you have only one Palace and those great work won't be themed. Above all it's an handy solution to store your bonus/spare GW.

  • Library Change - Adds 1 Great Work of Writing slot in each library built. Will partially solve those homeless writers issues.

  • Government district's buildings Change - Adds 1 specific kind of Great Work, Remember that you can only build 2/6 so ... choose well !

  • New Building : Forum - Forum were historically the first known places of commerce, and even more the first place that saw the first politics. The only downside would be your people feeling free to talk behind your back (loyalty malus).

    Prereq tech : Writing
    Prereq building : Monument
    District : City Center
    +1 Gold per turn
    +1 Governor Title
    - 7 Loyalty malus in this city.


  • New Building : Secret Council Hideout - High Production and Maintenance costs to bring the first Spy to your early empire.

    Production Cost : 450
    Maintenance Cost : 6
    Civic Prereq : Feudalism
    District : Diplomatic Quarters
    +1 spy unit slot.
    +1 free first spy.



It should be compatible with a lot of mods since I tried to make it as independant as possible. If you don't tick heroes option or don't have the DLC your warlord's throne will have a joker slot instead. If other mod edit the same values as mine it should still work since I use safe update commands in priority.



You can find all my mods by searching "Radiant" in steam workshop, nexus, or civfanatics, which is a recurrent word in all my mod's tittles.

Even if they represent hundreds of working hours, I'm sharing my mods for free like most of mod creators. But deep down I'm really hoping you to do that little extra thing that would help me a lot : joining any of my pages (patreon, facebook, instagram). Just that really! Don't feel obliged to give something, with Patreon there is indeed a free option that grants you basic news/content and it will only take few seconds of your time. That being said I'm an artist irl and I sometimes struggle to put my personal projects on the saddle. @DeadWeatherDrums Yeah you can ask mod creators about that, it's extremly frequent. That's why most of us "break" at some point and go mod another game, to change air (even if that start again later on that new destination lol stupid world). Unless you get a fair/regular share of donations to hang on (like the 3-4 top modders of civ6) it's a really tough thing to deal. I miss the 2000's where people were not so mean and ungrateful, where you were most of time at the fullest it was really beautiful. Anyway, I ll update that joker slot right now. I understand completely. And it's too bad people were not more pleasant to you. Instead, mod users end up becoming spoiled brats, not really understanding or appreciating the amount of time and effort that goes in to create mods, fixing them, updating, answering questions, deciphering what the question actually is :) and so on.

I think all your choices were good ones. But yeh, the Palace needs at least one joker slot for a Relic or their "special" choice to represent their civ or history or emperor or whatever. You know what I mean, friend.

Anyway, but I thought kinda the same for the palace, may be I will bring back his joker slot in addition of what I gave it, this should be limit but okay since AI mainly manage that. Your argument of the early relic is indeed valid. As for the public square, I'm sorry but I had many troubles with that one, it's a bad memory. People spit me in the face one day after civ6 updated and did something alike in the entertainement center/water park, t'was not my fault, too much unhappy feedback and also was thinking of limiting the bonus. After much tests I think it's for the best I left it, even if the idea was realistic and fine for this game.

@DeadWeatherDrums Hi mate, yes ! Even if my condition is sadly not curable, the hard times are now behind me, for now at least and let's hope it remains that way the longest possible. I appreciate you care ^ ^ I kinda agree for the joker slot. But first I need to explain you something, when you mod and start giving stuff in civ6, it really quickly become unbalanced, faster than any game I ever modded. So that's why I become very "touchy" when I think to add any new game asset that delivers yields or in that case GW slot. Culture is the fairest win you can have in this game and I must be careful not to ease that one too much, GW can be powerful and bring a prematured win. And that's what kills the fun (even if AI can use and manage it, they can't top our brains).

P.S. I miss the Public Square. The one on the water was a cool idea (but needed a cooler name) but you can lose it because I've never seen a pier with such a thing. But I get the idea you're going after. Maybe rename it Waterfront Park. And include a fountain in the picture.

If you could ask someone (or steal.borrow.beg) for 3D art that would make your mod much cooler and a Must Have. Personally, I'm a sucker for such things.

To continue from below....

All the other slots have kind of similar problems, meaning a "Joker" slot is really the best solution. Think of the scenarios like this: What if my civ's culture is big on relics or music or Heroes, and THAT's what I want them to see in the Audience Chamber? I mean, the Ancestral Haul should have a Relic, not someone else's Artefact...that I have to wait 1500 years to find and put in there. And so on and so on......

If you really want to do what you want to do with the Palace (which is a cool idea, I salute it) I recommend making one of the slots a Joker slot, or cutting down the number of slots but making them all Joker slots. Customization by the player is always preferable so we can express our unique culture or circumstances or just not be super frustrated. Understand?
