"...We still don't know what's was the real cause of Europa's initial inhabitants disappeance, but still, they were more advanced in all kinds of technologies that we don't. Maybe it was some kind of global cascade of cataclysmic events. Maybe they were wiped out by some kind of internal conflict. Or was wiped out by something, that we don't know still exists on this planet. Since first expeditions in ancient alien ruins, science teams found lots of their technological leftovers. Some of them dangerous, some of them are not. But sometimes, although rarely, remains of unknown creatures was found. Extensive research on bones and tissues from these remains show similarities with two species. Both are quite unexpected and exceptional. First one, shows that large part of their DNA matches with other Europan native "Cralfinus Cralis", or as some people name it — The Crawler. That quite corresponds with speculations of first found alien armor having the exact same amounts of eye holes as "Cralfinus Cralis". Maybe they actually WERE the dominant and technologicaly advanced species back then? Anyway, there's another DNA match we've need to speak about.
It's humane.
Other large part of their genes was actually much like our own. We have more similarities then most of animals on Earth. Close to chimpanzees, some species of cats or even bananas. Jokes aside, we're 60% same genes as bananas. Although, I've never seen one on Europa. Anyone of you? No? Anyway, back to topic.

"Precursors" as we call them now, physically were not so different from us too. Genetical remodeling show that original Europan inhabitant is around 6'5 height, a little bulky to accommodate depth pressure more easily, have strong bones and muscles to quickly propell itself in water. Although, probably has three pairs of small eyes to perceive in darkness same as other depth creatures. And most importantly, is humanoid. Maybe even mammal, same as crawlers. Two arms, two legs, head and torso. Same as us. That's why we can use their blood for transfusions, not even looking on blood types of hosts.

And one question still wriggles in my head after all this.

Well, enough of science things. Let's talk business. You want some alien tech? Real reason to get yourself into ruins, to not just get smashed by traps and guardians? Well, I've got something interesting for you.

I don't know who used to own one of these thousands of years ago, but looks like you can wear it right now! Made from the same material as old ruins making it highly resistant to everything with exeption of bullets. Like the aliens didn't thought about somebody shooting metal slugs at each other regularly.

What's the catch? Even two of them.

First — previous owners had three fingers on their hands. So, it's quite unwieldy to do almost everything. Oh, and boots too is certainly not designed to be used on surface. And for long walks. So, it's kinda slow if you try to stroll around the sub or station. But underwater it will shine, making speedy mudraptors pushing all the limits just to catch you.

Second — just like old alien ruins this suit is very, VERY unhappy about someone else being inside of it. That's why it WILL slowly eat you up, seeing human body as an alien. (ironic) No, I'm serious. Internal organ damage while wearing one of these is quite common sight to see. Not in seconds of course, but surely about thirty minutes of constant use. Slow, but steady. So, you know, carry around some morphine, just to be sure not to be absorbed by some pesky alien in form of armor. Suit even has two pockets, very handy for that!

So basically,it offers gameplay with high-protection for a price of you constantly monitoring your own health.

And also makes funny noises trying to eat you.

(hmm,I still thinking about putting somebody with a crawler genes in one of these and seeing what will happen)

Well, not much I can say about this piece of armor. It's very resistant. It's very handy because
of two types of scanner in it. Now you can see health and thermal signatures even through walls! Oh, and of course use cool violet lighting, so everyone instantly recognize you wearing this suit. Don't forget about this thing only using alien power cells! Rare, but much more effective than standard oxygen tanks.

Now this is the real reason to get yourself into ruins. Regular welder looks like a puny glue-pistol in comparsion with this alien-tech monster. It welds. It blocks doors in mere seconds. And oh boy, don't get in its way while he doing it. Really. I guess it even can be used as a weapon, in case of emergency. Or on regular basis if you feel more sadistic than usual about welding people alive.
