ÖBB 4061/1046/1146

In 1956, the ÖBB procured the 4061 baggage railcar for light urban rapid transit in order to be able to do without a baggage car. However, the series soon became too weak for the increasing train weights, the luggage compartment was rarely used, so the railcars were redesignated as the locomotive in the 1046 series in 1976 and from then on was only used in regional traffic. In 1986 two locomotives were equipped with new three-phase motors. These were more powerful, and it was also possible to drive under the Hungarian electricity system, so cross-country skiing of the new 1146 series was possible to Budapest. From 1987, some locomotives were completely renovated, they received a new locomotive body. In 2003 the last locomotives of this proven series were retired.
