Description
The KNS Adyl is a unique anti-submarine warfare destroyer of the Khertland navy and was the first ship constructed as part of Phase II for the Naval Rebuilding Program authorized in 2021. The design was a modification of the older generation ASW destroyer and as a result shares a lot of similarities. This is the second ship to bear the name Adyl. The first ship was also an ASW destroyer, and is in fact the basis for the second Adyl, its direct replacement. This confusion has lead to many documentation and senior officials referring the old ship as 'Adyl I' and new ship as 'Adyl II' despite their design being significantly different even if related.

The 'Adyl II' is equipped with two twin 138mm dual purpose guns with close range air defense supplemented by two single 28mm autocannons. For its primary role, the ship is equipped with two Alguhas depth charge launchers fore and aft. However, due to the height of the 138mm, and concerns with top weight, the forward Alguhas does not superfire over the 138mm turret limiting its arc. This is in contrast of the 'Adyl I' which had both the Alguhas launchers superfire due to smaller gun turrets and as such the 'Adyl II' is considered a downgrade in this aspect.
To resolve this issue, the aft turret swapped place with the Alguhas launcher in comparison with the 'Adyl I' which allowed the aft 138mm gun to fire above the Alguhas launcher which is located on the lower quarterdeck.

During exercises, the navy has found the inadequacy of the Alguhas launcher in the modern naval environment. The Alguhas was developed back in 2017 but naval technology has since advanced dramatically rendering it an obsolete system. However, this realization occurred after a number of ship plans with its inclusion has already been drawn up and sent to shipyards. As a result large amounts of the system has already been procured to meet this demand. Alterations are being made but the navy has thoroughly invested in the Alguhas system and as such a number of new ships are expected to be equipped with it. Supplementary and even outright replacement systems are being developed but the Alguhas is likely to stay in service for years to come.
