Description
Tula Tokarev model 1933 from Raid: World War II

The Soviet pistol that was supposed to replace the Nagant mle 1895 revolver, but it was issued to supplement it instead. Based on John Browning's designs, borrowing from both M1903 and M1911, it has somewhat terrible ergonomics, such as grip angle and shape being awkward and the button magazine release was also a subject of complaints. It had no safety, neither manual or automatic. Chambered in 7.62x25 TT, it is rather powerful and offers high penetration but low stopping power. Its ubiquity also led to its notoriety: the pistol was left as a "calling card" of sorts by killers of Russia in the 90s, and its use by Chinese gangs also paved way to its "Black Star" nickname.

Replaces the pistols (model only)

Welp, that was a challenge, but not really a technical one. The hardest part was deciding which animation set to use, and asking for suggestions would only make things worse. Let's say that while all pistols are more or less the same, we can easily draw a scale from Glock's high "beavertail" position in relation to the trigger guard to M1911's low-sitting automatic safety pad. That being said, animations designed around the M1911 can be used for pistols like the Glock, but there would be a lot of space between the palm web thingy and the back of the frame thingy. But not the other way around, because half of your hand would clip into the frame. Grip angles matter as well, but not as much. Anyway, since the Tokarev is basically an undersized M1911, this narrowed the list of animations down to 1911 sets. I wanted to use the MW2019 set initially, but I'm not a fan of the tacticool stance on a rather antique gun, and neither a fan of offscreen reload when dual wielded. I'd rather use them for some PD2 Colts instead. Other M1911 animations had sensibly large pistol models, but I knew that one game with ridiculously small Colts. That's right, it's Left 4 Dead 1 (one). And it shows off the sides nicely during reloads, just the way I like 'em. So, the pistol you start with is a customized one with wood grips that resemble those of the "Tokagypt" models, and a compensator seen on some Polish copies. The second pistol is a regular garden-variety standard-issue TT. This release pretty much concludes the basic Raid WWII set. A Desert Rifle replacement may or may not see the light, and I would like to make a medkit replacement as well, but the Primary Objective is now complete.

The compensator is attached to the slide, replacing the standard barrel bushing, so it creates a bit of a weird look as the barrel does not protrude too much from it even in fully rearward position. Here's a video of such device being installed and test fired:

I just double-checked. I realized the compensator on the right one moves with the slide. I'd still check, just in case.

I noticed that, when dual-wielding, the right gun is missing its slide animations when shooting.

that's really cool, can't believe L4D2 would finally patched the weapon icon thing

thanks for the answer (meant for both of you)

Yes, TLS updated all weapon and item scripts to link to their own separate icons instead of the old iconsheet system. Changing the icons is now painless.

After TLS update the icons do not require scripts modding if I get it correct.

does weapon icons no longer changing script or something? a lot of "recent mods" also changed the icons... something older mods usually have separate icons
