The T 72 is a Soviet/Russian third generation Main Battle Tank which has been in service with the Russian Army and many other countries since 1968. The T-72 was a development of the T-64, which introduced better technology as well as making production cheaper.

Today, there have been around 25,000 units produced, with the majority serving in the Russian Army.
