DESCRIPTION

The F99-1 “Hood” Air Warfare Frigate is the workhorse of the Newquay Navy's Bluewater fleet, old and somewhat cramped, they offer high reliability and quick response, with a top speed of 29 knots. Designed during the 1960's when the Newquay Navy were lacking credability in both Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Warfare, the Newquay government ordered two new classes of vessels, the F-97 Class Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigate and the F-99 “Hood” Air Warfare Frigate classes, a common design which could be built quickly and cheaply. When the UUM-2B Curveball Torpedo was introduced, a sudden change occurred in the navy, now any ship had a potent weapon to take on enemy submarines, not just specialised ships, additionally the navy had received funding cuts and needed to axe at least 1 type of ship, with the limited roles in any other area than ASW the F97s were decommissioned and used to provide spares for the F99s, which went onto receive lethality and life extension upgrades which saw the replacement of the original RIM-3 and RIM-5 Anti-Air Missile with RIM-7 Missiles, and later RIM-20 Missiles, and the forward-aft turret being replaced by an L76/2M Dual Naval Autocannon Turret, the old dual barrel 4.5" guns replaced with new L120M Guns, and Curveball Torpedoes. Despite some members of the class, namely the "Hood" herself, being now almost 60 years old they are going on strong, and have recently had a second life extension project (SLEP2) which saw the fitting of brand new GT600 Gas Turbine Engines in place of the old Steam Turbines, JTAC-ADV Integration, new remotely operated L30M Mod 4 "Viper" Autocannons and unmanned L120M Mod 2 "Mallet" Main Guns, and replacement of the UUM-2B "Curveball" with its upgraded successor the UUM-3A "Slingshot", massively increasing the lethality of the aging vessels.

The F-99 comes with the following armaments at it’s disposal:
- 10x RIM-7 8km Active Radar Anti-Air Missiles [6x Forward, 4x Aft]
- 2x L120M Mod 2 “Mallet” JTAC-ADV Main Guns
- 2x L30M Mod 4 “Viper” JTAC-ADV Secondary Autocannons
- 4x L97 Mod 1 General Purpose Machine Guns
- 2x UUM-3A “Slingshot” Heavyweight Torpedoes

TO START THE ENGINE

- Once you have Power, go to the Right Panel in the Bridge
- Turn on ENGINEERING SYSTEMS
- Turn on ENGINE IGNITION ARM
- Set the Turbine RPS to 1 or more on the Left Throttle
- Switch ENGINE 1 FUEL PUMP & ENGINE 1 FUEL VALVE to On
- Press and Hold ENGINE 1 START until Engine 1 has Ignited
- Repeat for the last three steps for ENGINE 2
- Turn On ENGINE 1 & ENGINE 2 SHAFT CLUTCH switches
- Wait for Turbines to return to a stable RPS
- Increase Clutch to max for Cruising Speed at 12.5 RPS.
- To go Faster than 18 knots, reduce Clutch to 0.273 and turn on RPS OVERRIDE and Increase Desired RPS to above 12.5 RPS

TO MANUALLY GUIDE THE WEAPONS:

- Go to the BRIDGE
- Press ACTIVATE SYSTEM
- Press TGT and then LAS, point where you want to shoot.
- Press the desired weapon to arm, (L120M, L30M, RIM-7 all rely on the JTAC-ADV system to function!)

BUTTON DEFINITIONS:

- MANUAL CONTROL: This will let you take control of where the fire control radar points at.

- TGT: Abbreviated for "target", this will point all the guns at the radar/laser target you are looking at. It will also transmit GPS coordinates of that target via radio.

- LAS: Abbreviated for "laser", this will turn on the laser and send laser gps co-ordinates and allow you to point the guns where the camera is facing.

- RECEIVE JTAC COORDINATES: The turrets will point at received JTAC coordinates. This requires another transmitter to be actively transmitting coordinates on the same frequency to work.

FEATURES:

- Radar XYZ Targeting
- Laser XYZ Targeting
- Fully fledged fire control system capable of being controlled by a single person
- Top Speed of 29kts
- Long Range and Replenishment Capability
- High Manoeuvrability
- Detailed Interior & Exterior

I love this so much oh no look who, it makes me feel like I’m back on the HMCS Fredricton. I’d love to see you build a Canadian warship sometime, like our new icebreakers. If you want a guided tour of one of them let me know :)
