[WOTC] LordAbizi's Officer-class Mod

Description
The Battlefield Tactician

Abstract
This mod introduces a new class that uses shiremct's Proficiency system, and has an officer-like role in the battle.

Class overview
The class uses a primary pistol, and a secondary holotargeter. The role of this class is mostly that of support - it has little offensive potential, but it can help the other squad members.
This class has three trees - Medic - which boosts the effectiveness of medkits, Painter - which boosts the effectiveness of holotargeting, and Support Grenadier - which boosts the effectiveness of Flashbang and Smoke grenades.
While in the higher levels this class can probably justify its own place in the squad, it will probably feel very weak and difficult to level up. My personal intent for this class it to "reserve" a spot for them - i.e., increase sequad size by one, but reserve the extra slot for this class, or make this class necessary on some mission types. This is purely optional, there is no actual mechanic that enforces this.
The description of the actual perk trees is rather technical, and as such, is relegated to the appendix.

Configuration
Many of the numbers that appear in the ability descriptions are configurable. If a number is presented in green, then it can be edited by going to XComAbiziOfficerAbilities.ini. If they are not there, then these numbers must be from an ability controlled by the base Proficiency classes. The AP costs for buying abilities in the XCOM row or from the same rank is determined in XComPromotionUIMod.ini

Compatibility
No RPGO or LWOTC version. LWOTC has actual good officer system, no need to use a cheap knock-off.
Do not use the Battlefield Survey ability on any class that uses any kind of focus system (like Templars). It's impossible to have two focus systems at the same time.
Covert Infiltration - specifically designed with that in mind. This class even has some nice minor bonus in infiltrations.
Rescue Resistance Leader - This class can show up as possible reward from the Rescue Resistance Leader mod.
Brave New World - No, but it might be compatible with The Knife of Dunwall, I did not test.
Vanilla version - I am not familiar with these combination of words. Rephrase.

Required Mods
Make sure you are also subscribed to the second order dependencies - the required mods by the required mods, etc.
Proficiency Classes - absolutely required, many perks are taken from there. Proficiency Templar is required for the Bomb Belts ability.
Rescue Denmother - Used for one icon, and some abilities. The class will mostly be functional without it, but some abilities will be missing/ do nothing (like Rope Mastery).
Community Promotion Screen - Technically, the old New Promotion Screen By Default should also work.
Mitzruti Perk Pack - Many abilities are taken from it, absolutely necessary.
LW2 Perk Pack - Can be replaced with the LW2 Classes and Perks. PAY ATTENTION - LW2 Classes and Perks changes how some base game abilities work, where the LW2 Perk Pack (which is listed as a requirement) has quick config options to turn off all those changes. Technically, if you skip this requirement, then the class will mostly be intact, just some abilities will be missing.
True Primary Secondaries - Naturally, as the class uses a primary pistol. The old Primary Secondaries can also work fine. If you don't like it, just replace the primary pistol with whatever, this class doesn't really use its primary weapon anyway.
Musashi Mod Fixes - Required in every mod that requires True Primary Secondaries.

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY REQUIREMENTS FOR JUST ONE CLASS?!
Unfortunately, this is what the author can achieve. The author considers himself the primary customer of this mod, and as such has no problems to depend on mods he uses anyway. If the reader does not like this, they are free to subscribe to a different mod.

Known Issues
  • Right now this class uses the base game Ranger class icon. This should be rectified soon.
  • The focus icon for the Command ability is ugly. This should be rectified soon.
  • Some visualization issues related to using Primary Secondaries. Nothing the author can do about it.
  • Playing with this class might grant you accidentally the Circle of Psi achievement if you didn't have it. I might look into fixing it at some future, but not any time soon.

Acknowledgements
The author is grateful to the following for their part in the mod:

shiremct - for the original proficiency classes and the code used for the proficiency system, as well as useful discussions.
RustyDios, h4ilst0rm, TeslaRage, Tepa, Dies Irae, Stukov, and other members of the MEME Discord - for general encouragement, enlightening discussions and emotional support.

Thanks for pointing the way. I assume that I just comment out the +OfficerSoldierClasses = AbiziOfficer line, right?

The relevant lines are in XComGame.ini config file:
[WOTC_DSL_Rusty.X2EventListener_StatusOfDSLRusty]
+OfficerSoldierClasses = AbiziOfficer

Mind if I ask how to remove the yellow bar that said 'Officer Class' in squad loadout?

I found it distracting as, while it consider to be officer, it not really officer in term of WotC context. So it kinda like over emphasize this class as so special while other soldier beneath him/her.

ill give it a shot after i finish or my game corrupts lol: I don't wanna mess anything up - my game has been "stable" so far - thank you so much for responding and the attentiveness

you mean that the class description "Battlefield Tactician" and the text below it doesn't show as in the pictures in the mod page?
That's weird. Try resubbing to the mod, and check if the file XComGame.int has indeed this text...

sorry to bother you w more questions: i am getting a block of nothing when i try and reclass to your officer - they are able to take the role and use the skills but in the description of the class there is nothing but blank space - i could pass a pic along if you need to see it in action.

The answer to that can probably be found in the localization of Rusty's Detailed Soldier List mod, as that is the thing adding that sign in the first place.

quick question: for a personal throughput i like to think of this role as a "Squad Leader" within the Squad Management mod setup.

Is there a way i can change the name from "Officer" to "Fireteam Leader" - I love the idea of reserving a spot for them and wanna elaborate on it more maybe in my private runs

@mynameactually - there's no harm in using both, the abilities are new internally. But yes, it WILL probably be a bit weird!
