Description

INCOMPATIBLE WITH "The Depressed (Standalone)". The new Depressed is much stronger than the previous one.

Also important for anyone downloading mods: if you download any character mod, and uninstall that mod while you still have a run with a modded character, your game will then keep crashing. This is not the fault of a mod. To fix, simply re-install the mod you had (eg.: Bertran), switch to a vanilla character (eg.: Isaac), and THEN you can uninstall the character mod. This works for pretty much every character mod.

There are currently no Birthrights for the characters, but I will add them as soon as I can.

Co-op has been tested and should work fine with all characters!

This is an early version of the mod, and things will keep being added over time.




Metabirth is a mod that will add unique things to the game. Currently, it only adds 3 characters, and 1 tainted character.
To use one of the Metabirth characters, select "Metabirth" in the character selection screen. You'll be presented with a super unique character selection screen!



The Depressed is a character based on the item Rock Bottom. You no longer get stat downs, however your stats are slowly draining. You can stop the drain temporarily using your pocket item Anti-Depressants.
Also starts with strong base stats, to make up for the drain a little bit.
Be quick, be strong!

The Desolate is a character that everybody hates. It's main purpose is to be very hard. It doesn't really have any upsides, as your rock bottom will drain away even quicker than The Depressed.

Plumboy! is a character inspired by Baby Plum. He inherits an attack from his parent, which you can activate with your pocket item Plum Butt.
Flies are family!

The Spark is a living battery! You can now store charges even if you don't have an active item. Your active item will always appear discharged, but you have a charge counter like the coin/bomb/key counter on your HUD. Battery related items are very powerful for this character!
However, your stat ups are halved, except your speed, you gain speed normally and you even start with a bit of extra.

  • Pure Depressed (Think of it like Tainted, but in the opposite direction. It'll most likely just be an easier version of The Depressed, but still not just "you start with rock bottom")

I wanna talk about the depressed. Really cool concept for a character, but I feel like it’s inherently flawed, the only thing “rock bottom” about this character is that you’re at rock bottom stat wise for the whole run. It goes against a core mechanic of Isaac, being that you’re encouraged to explore each floor for a better chance at a good run. With this character, why would I explore at all if i’m actively being punished for it; i’d just find the boss asap and use whatever boss/deal items I get to carry the run. If I could suggest a rework, it would be that every time you go to a new floor, your stats lock at what they were when you jumped into the trap door as the “new minimum” as in your stats can’t drain any further until you pick up another stat up, draining back to the new minimum of the floor. It still promotes the fast play style I think you were going for without actively punishing the player for wanting to spend more than 30 seconds on a floor.
