Horace Greeley

Description
Horace Greeley (February 3, 1811 – November 29, 1872) was an American newspaper editor and publisher who was the founder and editor of the New-York Tribune. Long active in politics, he served briefly as a congressman from New York. He battles Ulysses S. Grant in 1972 for the presidency, and while technically he was a Republican and was nominated by the new Liberal Republican Party, The Democrats were in shambles at this time after the civil war, and so they also nominated him for president. Greeley ended up passing away at 61, while the electoral vote was still happening, meaning the election would easily go to Grant. Yet it's importamt to not forget the charecter of Horace Greeley: being into spirituality, being into veganism, calling himself a Socialist, and reading Marx.
