What is this mod?
This is a recreation of an old mod I made known as Brave New World - Biological Stratum Control, updated and expanded with new content and improved art.

What does this mod do?
In short, this mod lets you more finely control which pops are in which stratum by way of 5 new species traits.
  • The Alpha trait restricts those pops to only be able to perform Ruler jobs, and gives bonus to unity production
  • The Beta trait restricts those pops to only be able to perform Ruler and Specialist jobs
  • The Gamma trait limits pops to only be able to perform Specialist jobs and gives a bonus to research output
  • The Delta trait limits pops to Specialist and Worker jobs, and receives a happiness bonus, due to their limited cognitive capacity
  • The Epsilon trait forces pops into Worker jobs and turns off happiness for them
The traits are unlocked by any technology that unlocks advanced genetic modification (effectively meaning that you must use the genetic ascension path).

What doesn't this mod do?
This mod does not allow you to control strata for gestalts, as the triggers are set up differently for them. As such, I don't know that it's possible to allow the same for hives and machine empires. Feel free to let me know if I'm wrong on that, though.

Compatability
There will almost certainly be some conflicts generated by this mod. If any crop up, leave a comment and I can try to make a patch. Others are also free to make patches as they please.

Thank you, I am using another mod that makes domestic slaves have other jobs.
I just wanted to give domestic servants a bit of more free will by allowing them to take special jobs. Normal domestic servants can only do low tier jobs.
This is not that necessary. A slave is a slave after all.

Still, I do need pops working specialists jobs from mods that add new buildings. Quick example the mech building from Invasion mod.

I will be sure to give it a try to the fixed version. Thank you for your information.

Whoops, sorry for kinda going AWOL, this version of the mod has a breaking bug that cannot be fixed cause of some weirdness with the PDX modding tools. I have a reupload here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2807181376 , it should fix the issues.

As for your questions, it affects all pops of all strata, but it has to be of a job type that they are not restricted from working already. You cannot force a chattel slave to work ruler jobs with the Alpha or Beta trait. From what I recall about domestic servants, it should work fine.

I have been having problems with my pops refusing to do specialist jobs.


I have only one question. Does it affect slaves?

For example:
If I have a domestic servant. Can I give him a a Gamma perk to force it to work specialist job?

Yep, I actually came to the same conclusion. Now if only I could figure out why the paradox launcher isn't letting me overwrite the mod and instead just wants to upload a new one...

I figured it out, 00_rules needs to be named something else. Game uses ASCII for that one so needs a name that will load after.

So I am stumped. When I use this mod the map is revealed and all my colonies have zero habitability. Figured it was just incompatible with another mod, but with just this and verifying files it still happens. Based on what this changes I don't even know how that can happen.
