NOTICE: While the units featured in this mod are available for the AI rogue faction "Hung Warband", this mod Is still just a unit pack for Chaos and Norsca.
This mod Is NOT an overhaul for the Hung Warband faction nor a mod that allows You to play as the Hung Warband faction.

"Word of a Hung"
—Cathayan aphorism for a worthless promise

This mod adds the following units for Chaos and Norsca, respectively:
-Hung Warriors
-Hung Warriors (Great Weapons)
-Hung Warriors (Spears)
-Hung Raiders (Bows)
-Armoured Hung Raiders (Bows)
-Hung Raiders (Melee Weapons)
-Armoured Hung Raiders (Spears)
-The Khan's Fury
-The Khan's Fury (Spears)
-Hung Warhounds

They are all available through the following building chains:
-You'll find the Warrior units through the main marauders building chain for Chaos and the main military building chain for Norsca.
-You'll find the Raider units through the main marauders building chain for Chaos and the outpost cavalry and main cavalry building chains for Norsca.
-You'll find the Khan's Fury units through the main Chaos Knights building chain for Chaos and the main cavalry building chain for Norsca.
-You'll find the Hung Warhounds through the main marauders building chain for Chaos and the main Norscan beasts building chain for Norsca.

The Hung are supposed to be a nomadic race of Northmen that lives in the far Eastern part of the Northern Chaos Wastes, close to Cathay's northern borders, they are mainly based on the Mongols, Huns and Xiongnu.
Despite the lack of official artworks (only 2 rough sketches on the wiki) they are described as a shorter and "squatter" version of Cathaians while also being considered Northmen.
Since I can't port stuff from Warhammer 3 and changing the size of the models could bring potential problems with the animations, this Is pretty much the best I can give to You: vanilla Marauders with some easternish stuff.
All in all, I think that this mod can be considered as NOT lore friendly, if you want to know more please consult the QA section.

Ok, presentation over: let's dive into the technical stuff!

*BALANCE*
They are mainly based on vanilla units so they should be vanilla friendly.
NOTICE: The units' stats screenshot was taken with the unit size setting set to large, so expect more HP and unit models if you are playing on Ultra.

*COMPATIBILITY*

As far as I know this mod works with pretty much everything that do not mess too much with vanilla units.
I'm playing the game with 100+ different mods and everything is working fine!
The mod is NOT save compatible.
If you want these Hung Warbands in your campaign you'll have to start a new one.

*KNOWN ISSUES*
-Some Weapons and capes may show minor LOD issues.
-Minor Clipping here and there.
-While the ranged units have custom bows and arrows the final projectile will always be a standard arrow.
That's due to the fact that the game wants only a single rigid model as the projectile display.
-While the models have 4 variant of custom eyes It will be hard for you to notice even if you zoom really close.
Some eye variants will be brighter than other though.

*UPDATES POLICY*

Let me be straight with you...when the mod status change from updated to outdated....if you start to spam in the comment section things like "update pls, OMG UPDATE, can we have an update my good sir?, UpDaTe!1!1!1" and similar stuff....know that https://media.giphy.com/media/e3URFlLQywEPC/giphy.gif

...But jokes aside: please don't do that.
When it becomes necessary, and when I can, I will update my stuff, do not worry.

*QA*
-"Why this mod should be considered as NOT lore friendly?"
Mainly because my final models look more like northmen with easternish stuff rather than barbaric Cathaians.
Plus I used two Mongolian-like shields that are sure beautiful but NOT lore friendly, of course.
Frankly though...I do think that this Is one of those rare occasion where not being 100% lore accurate Is actually a good thing.
To summarize the wiki description *The Hung are basically squatter cathaians-like no-neck nomadic backstabbers who ride sturdy ponies in battle* and no... I'm NOT joking.
So yeah: I took a few design liberties with the models and I regret nothing.
Since I'm really happy with the final result I'll also keep these models untouched for the Warhammer 3 port of this mod.
I'll probably make new eastern variants with Cathay's stuff and divide the Hung between Western and Eastern.
Almost like Western and Eastern Mongols when the Mongol Empire fractured in multiple khanates, if You will.
-"Custom faction/lords/heroes/mounts?"
I generally don't make none of those, but feel free to go ahead and make any kind of submod, you have my permission!
-"I don't like those custom Horses."
Here's a version with vanilla horses https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2836174528
-"SFO?"
As a matter of fact I'm officially retired from SFO/Overhaul related mods.
As always: If you already have previous experience in SFO submodding feel free to make an SFO version out of any of my mods that are currently missing one, I will link your submods if you provide me with a link.

And that's all I guess!
Credits time!

Thanks to alkmion https://www.flickr.com/photos/12585743@N02/ for creating and sharing the two mongolian-like shields that I used for this mod.
Thanks to www.spiralgraphics.biz and his products for making said shields possible.
And thanks to them for freely allowing the modification and redistribution of their textures for both paying and free users.
Thanks to Phazer for RME editor!
Thanks to H3ro and his great tool!
Any of this would not have been possible without Frodo45127's RPFM which is still updated to this very day, thank you!
I would also like to thank Sebidee and Caligula for their great modding guides!
And I would like to thank you!
Whatever you liked my mod or not thanks a bunch for giving it a try!

Let's be brutally honest now: there are countless modders that are WAY more talented than me and that would deserve your money more than me.
That said, If you have grown to like my works so much to the point that you want to express your appreciation or just put a smile on my face...well: I will not stop you ;) .
You have my gratitude for all the support you can throw at me, independently by the donation's sum: you are all equals to me and I do thank you all.
From my part I can assure you that your donations will not be wasted, in fact I would mainly use them to:
-complete the Total War Warhammer DLC collection and thus expand my modding possibilities
-PC related things

A final side note: This Is most likely my last major piece of content for this workshop.
From now on and until the release of Immortal Empires for Warhammer 3 I'll focus on smaller unit mods, submods and compilations.

Yeah, my Warhammer 2 mods are pretty trash (not that my WH 3 stuff is any better lol).
My Warhammer 2 mods suffered the most because I wasn't able to properly set custom colours on custom tex files and resulted in custom models with very oversatured colours.
Not sure why you are pointing this out since I'm long retired from WH 2 though.

These bright colour lol what?
This whole mod looks like a graphic error.

I have officially concluded my modding journey on this workshop.
As always: feel free to make any kind of submods for any of my mods.

Ok then, I'll post the version with vanilla horses when It's done.
You'll find the link in the QA section.
@HughJanus69 I get that but I don't make SFO mods anymore.
Your best bet Is to find an active SFO submodder interested in making an SFO port of this mod.
The SFO submodders have been kinda inactive lately though so good luck with that.
Giovanille 16 Jul, 2022 @ 10:39am
@zerg93 : It would make me very happy since the unit is very good.
HughJanus69 16 Jul, 2022 @ 7:46am
needs an sfo submod anyway though
HughJanus69 16 Jul, 2022 @ 7:46am
I concur please do vanilla horse version
zerg93  [author] 16 Jul, 2022 @ 6:48am
I'll try to tone down the colours in game 3's port but model and tex files here are final.
If you are that bothered I can make a version with vanilla horses.
