Bill Watts

"Cowboy" Bill Watts is a former wrestler, booker, and executive who got his in-ring start in 1962. The former offensive lineman for the Oklahoma Sooners feuded with Bruno Sammartino over the WWWF Championship and wrestled for the NWA, AWA, and AJPW.

In 1979, Watts founded Mid-South Wrestling, which later became the Universal Wrestling Federation. He sold the UWF to Jim Crockett Promotions in 1987, and Watts eventually made his way to WCW after Ted Turner bought out JCP.

Watts worked an executive at WCW for a few years before departing in the midst of controversy. He briefly served as the booker for the WWF in 1995, and was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
