Sinister Secret

Description
Four miles east of Saltshore, just inland of the old coast road, stands a haunted house. Until twenty years ago, it had been the residence of an aged alchemist of sinister reputation. Now, two decades after his unexplained disappearance, the house has taken on an even greater air of evil and mystery.

A short adventure that will take a 1st level party to 2nd level.

How do you get to the lower caverns? Where there is steps down, I don't see anything

There doesn't seem to be an exit once you kill the head smuggler. Is it where you find the boat in the lower caverns?

An opening message would be good, and perhaps some acoustical effects to set the right mood.
