Description
This is inspired by the JAS 39 Gripen

Fighter for early survival

Atmospheric only
Powered by 5 batteries
2 Gatling gun
2 projectors: one in clean flying mode the second with 2 light impact missiles
Front camera under the nose
3 retractable Landing wheels (use friction to break)
has a remote control if you need to for the autopilot to return the fighter over your base while you guide the missiles

the retractable wheels are the only subgrids to build them you only need to place 2 cylinders and a 1x1 wheel suspension

use small merge blocks for the missile's hard points so just turn on the projector with the missiles and fly to a welding station to rearm it in a few seconds and return to the next base to destroy its antenna.

the DLC is for the warfare batteries and Sci-Fi Thrusters

I use this fighter with the aerodynamic MOD but it does not need it



The logic for this plane :

In my survival play, I had M.E.S. popping up assertive bases around me but I had no Magnesium to build ammo.
This was my solution: build a fighter and equip it with 2 impact missiles (cannot put more on it because of the weight)

Fly at over 1000m and from a long distance (around 7 KM away to give me time to guide the missiles) launch the 2 missiles and remote control them to hit the antennas of the bases.

Once I am happy with the trajectory of the first missile, I lock the gyros and switch over to the second one and guide it all the way in. the first one should distract the defence long enough for the second one to hit.

The missiles do not have warheads just a few blast door parts on the nose for the impact. It's enough to damage an antenna or a Gattling turret (not enough for the new warfare weapons they have much more structural integrity)

For those who like them or who want to experiment with them, I just added a 3rd projector for a loadout using 2 WHAM scripted missiles. these missiles have 2 Warheads on them, and I made the firing setup on tab 3 (see the last 2 pictures)

important note
If you want to use regular remote controls guided missiles and not the WHAM scripted missiles you need to turn off the Lamp programmable block to be able to control the antennas

After you turn off the LAMP PB reset all the settings of all the antennas you have (the JAS and the missiles)

Personally, I don't find the WHAM missiles that useful at this stage (early survival):
Going against large grid bases they go for the center of the base (you can offset them in the custom setting) and the explosion is not big enough to take out what you really want (turrets and antenna that are more to the peripheric of the base)
Going against smaller drones (i was using a drifting pursuant as a test) I was not able to lock it over 2K and the drone had small Gattling turrets. They were able to ward off those missiles.

They probably would do better against some MES drones that have only forward-facing weapons since I saw the missiles doing some manoeuvring to get to the drone. If the drone had only forward-facing weapons it would not have been able to take out the missiles

@Yamato_kurusaki I did try to use that script a long time ago and was having problem whit it
and wanted to retry it at one point.
So if you could point me to a working atmo or hydrogen missiles whit them i would appreciate it.

But i want to be able to use/build both scripted missiles and unscripted one for when i go on a server
right now i'm playing a bit with the custom turret block in the missile, but i am waiting if there is something in the AI update that will be coming this year that could make it easier

I could give you my design of missles that uses wham and whip scrips its ez to use and ez to set up tbh

This is the goal i made for myself whit this one :
Start on the planet (around the equator) go into space coast around the planet reenter atmo launch an attack on a base at the north pole. Then go back yo my starting point by going to space again
(I had Aerodynamics mods and a max speed of 350m/s)

i was able to do that by having full hydro and filling up all the space i had full of ice
once i reached space and coasted to the pole i stopped waited for refill the H2 then made my attack. then come back the same way

At the end i had no ice left and about 40% of hydro left

Note i could not make the missiles Hydrogen since i had no way to refuel them
if you want to shoot them in space i recommend using ions or modify it using a mod that make 1*1 connectors
