Reading 5-pack

Description
A bit of a small one-time commission for a good friend of mine, recreating some of the iconic Reading diesel locomotives.

A bit of history on these locomotives. Reading 902 and 903 first arrived in 1950 as few of the first 6 FP7s to arrive on the Reading, they actually led their first train together on June 6th, 1950. They lasted in service well into SEPTA until their retirement in 1981 when SEPTA retried all diesel-operated trains. The NRHS bought both locomotives in 1983 and restored them to there original Reading roots and the 2 operated excursion trains together. They continued excursions well into the new millennium until 2008 when the excursions came to a close. As of 2022, both F units are on display at Steamtown as inoperable.

As for the GP30, 5513 was built in 1962 as the first production GP30 built by EMD and served as a mainline freight unit for many years, well into the days of Conrail before being retired around 1984-1985, as it was later restored at the Reading Shops in 1986 as it was now owned by the Reading Technical & Historical Society for excursion service as it saw frequent service hauling passengers on the Blue Mountain and Reading until 1991, when its engine was experiencing multiple problems resulting in its retirement. As of 2022, this unit is presumed to get funding raised for a potential return to service.

In this pack, you get 2 EMD GP30s, 2 EMD FP7's and an accommodating B unit, as they represent the many prime examples of Readings iconic, classical and humble diesel fleet.

the full lyrics of We Rode on the Reading
CTW7435 14 Jun @ 2:16pm
[Chorus]
We rode on the Reading when the Reading rode again
We look back through the years to the days of way back when
We rode the mighty rails across the fields and 'round the bend
We rode on the Reading when the Reading rode again

[Verse 1]
They tell me that the age of steam is dead and gone away
They say I'm living in the past but I don't hear what they say
The chug-chug-chug and the toot-toot-toot seem like an old, old friend
We rode on the Reading when the Reading rode again

[Bridge 1]
With a chug-chug-chug and a toot-toot-toot
We'll head from Reading town
We'll ride the rails to Pottsville
And then we'll turn around

[Verse 2]
From the coal mines and the factories, from the mountains to the sea
The Reading lines extended in the 19th century
We'll not forget the stories of steel rails and iron men We rode on the Reading when the Reading rode again

[Bridge 2]
The cars and the cabooses
Are with us still today
So stoke that locomotive
And listen as we say
