Solomon Kane

Description
Based upon the stories by Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan), Solomon Kane is a narrative adventure board game featuring exceptional 35mm miniatures. It is a highly innovative co-operative game of storytelling, resource management, and tactical miniatures play. Players take the part of the invisible powers of good and light who aid Solomon Kane in his quest to overcome the forces of Darkness. Each player is one of the four Cardinal Virtues: Courage, Prudence, Temperance, and Justice, each with special powers that reflect their unique role.

Drawing upon Howard’s famous tales of the Puritan avenger, the core box allows players to tell their own versions of the Rattle of Bones, Skulls in the Stars, and Blue Flame of Vengeance. Expansions recreate Howard’s other Solomon Kane stories, as well as adding original adventures for the hero, created especially for the game.

In Solomon Kane, each of Howard’s tales is told as one or more Acts, with each Act comprising a full game session. Shorter stories like Rattle of Bones can be completed in a single session, whilst longer tales will take multiple sessions to play through.

An Act is broken down into 8-10 Chapters, and each Chapter has multiple possible outcomes depending upon the actions of the players. Some Chapters offer story choices, whereas others see the action play out on the game board as the players work together to aid Solomon Kane in his quest.

Using custom card decks and dice, each Virtue can control Solomon Kane or his allies, moving them around the board, fighting enemies, exploring locations, and interrogating suspects for information. If the odds get too stacked against Solomon Kane, the Virtues can even manifest directly to intervene on the board.

Opposing Solomon Kane and the players is the Darkness. This twisted reflection of the Virtues is controlled by an AI deck which determines the actions of enemy miniatures, thwarts the player’s best plans, and competes with them to drive the story in an evil and unholy direction.

The world of Solomon Kane is brought to life through the stunning artistic vision of Guillem H. Pongiluppi and game designer Jake Thornton, whose ‘puppet master’ game mechanics break new ground in co-operative gameplay. With multiple versions of every single Chapter, Solomon Kane is able to combine immersive storytelling with abundant replayability for a truly unique gameplay experience.

Who is Solomon Kane?
Solomon Kane is a dour English Puritan and redresser of wrongs. He roams the world, fighting against the ungodly and evil works of men and foul magic alike. He follows no master save his conscience, though that alone drives him to the ends of the Earth to fulfil his quest.

All his life he has travelled, aiding the weak and fighting oppression. From the bleak moors of England, through the damp forests of Germany, to the sweltering jungles and savannahs of Africa – even to the shores of the distant New World of America. He neither knows nor questions why is driven to do this. It simply must be done.

To Solomon Kane he is the fulfiller of God’s judgement; a vessel of wrath to be emptied onto the souls of the unrighteous. To his enemies he is an implacable fury, armed with flintlock and rapier, and armoured in unshakeable faith. The knowledge of the rightness of his cause makes him unstoppable, and gives him the ability to overcome any fiend or demon.

Thanks for building this. I have the game but is very hard to get a group together to play it - online makes it much easier. Was working on my own import but it is a lengthy process - kudos to you for the high quality of the components.

Suggestion - if you add the card names (i.e. F024, E035) of the fight and fight effect cards it makes it much easier to find them quickly in the decks when doing multiple fights - then you can just drop the cards back into the deck and search for the ones you need to pull out.

Ah, yeah that makes sense. I have them pre-ordered but they are not printing yet. If it was jut for the story books, it could be done (if someone would upload the pdf) but discovery cards play major role too.

I don't personally own the game scans were passed on to me by a friend, they said they would scan the expansions but gave no time frame I'm afraid, so it's a waiting game

Hi, thanks for the upload it's really blast to play through. I'm confused with the adventure books tho. I see it has the core set with 5 adventures, then the Unforeseen Perils Expansion with 12 tileset even tho the expansion contains only 2, yet even the book calls for 12 (I guess it's part of the core set for quicker script) and 1/2 expansion of Death in Loyalty with Right Hand of Doom story (the one mentioned in quick guide) missing entirely.

Are you planning to add more expansion?

...okay, by loading the mod with half-textures and mod threading off, I've managed to load the mod, but the map tiles were black... then I've put them back in the bag, turned Mod Threading on, and pulled them out - and they loaded up fine and dandy, and did not give me any freezes.

Turned out the real culprit was the Discovery deck - during play, some cards turned black and transparent, and I've tried to force-reload the deck by putting it in a bag and pulling it out... making TTS and my PC freeze up completely, as I did not turn the Mod Threading back off.

Now tried loading with Mod Threading, but half textures... Congrats! This time, I've been more patient and waited longer after my PC froze before resetting... and your mod is the second one to cause my PC to launch CHKDSK after reset! :steammocking:

Generally, at the beginning the mod loads correctly regardless of the configuration. Problems arise only when setting up a story, Rattle of Bones in my case. The figures load correctly, but then it gets stuck at 6/10 assets loaded. With Mod Threading off, it eventually goes through, but then it needs more loading again when trying to take the map tiles from the bag, which can cause freezing again.

All in all, the map tiles are most probably to blame.

Tried loading with full textures, but still with Mod Threading off - the tiles did load... but I only managed to pull 2 out, because the loading actually froze my PC for a while... it eventually finished, but even after loading, the PC was constantly freezing up with small breaks.

I did manage to zoom in and notice that the map tiles are of quite good quality... maybe even too good. Maybe we could get a version with lower-quality map tiles? All the cards and PDFs load up properly and make no trouble later, only the map tiles are killing the playability for me.

Ok, so... I tried loading the mod with Mod Threading off, and Half Textures - thanks to that, the setup script for Rattling Bones did not freeze my PC completely (there was a hiccup, but the loading was ultimately done)

The thing is... the map tiles did not load for me. There's no error message about missing files - but the tiles load as completely black.

I don't know how, I don't know why, but this mod is the second one for me that seems to be so heavy for my PC when loading, that it makes my PC freeze up completely, lol. And I can play miniature wargames with 3D models on TTS normally.

Actually, upon further playing, I just found that a bit of Act 1's card back are shifted by 1 at some point. Might want to fix that as well
