Description
My version of the Airspeed Horsa Mk II glider. This version has the D-Day stripes.

It's very much anapproximation, not a 1:1 replica.

Used in several operations to land troops behind enemy lines this glider can carry 28 fully soldiers and you might be able to cram a cannon or a jeep in there if you make a ramp.

Since towing, especially in solo play, doesn't work I added an electric engine and a hidden propeller so you can fly the plane to a suitable altitude before cutting the engine and gliding. Since the game physics removes so much of your speed when using any flaps you need to adjust your course as little as possible to maintain speed, or cheat and boost your speed with the engine in turns.

The fuselage is a bit girthier than the real deal but I had to compromise to be able to use the arches and create a hollow, round fuselage whith an opening door, so it's a bit chubby but seat capacity, length and wingspan are quite close to correct.

Alt controls to fly.
W/S: Variable throttle. *
S: Ground brakes.
A/D: Ground steering/Yaw.
Up/Down arrow: Pitch.
Left/Right arrow: Roll.
X/Disable steering: Side door.
Auxiliary/PgUp and PgDn: Open nose for loading and unloading.
Fire action 7/Num 7: Jettison main landing gear to reduce weight and drag and use skid to land.
Fire Action 8/Num 8: Remove rear part of fuselage to speed up unloading after landing.

* Since the electric engine has 3 gears it works a bit differently from the regular plane engine but it usually works well. If you need to shift up or down manually use Shift and Ctrl respectively.

Have fun!

A tow version of my Lancaster has been uploaded. No bombs but a winch at the rear so you can try and attach it to the Horsa fron wheel and tow. I recommend trying it with one pilot in each plane becasue it sure doesn't work with just one player. :)

If it's not working for you make sure that Num Lock is ON or it won't work.

Hopefully. :)

Sorry misread a bit, I thought you meant the thing would crack like an egg on impact with the ground. LOL Fireaction 8/Num 8 has you sorted.

Not on landing but they had some bolts they loosened and wire cutters for control wires so they could remove the rear after landing for faster un-loading, which I simulated with fire action 8's detonators (they actually used explosives at first but realised it could blow up if hit in the air apparently), so press Fireaction 8/Num 8 after landing and the rear should break off. Also press PageUp or PageDown (can't remeber which) to open the nose completely like the real thing.

Isn't the real glider meant ti break open on landing?
